You Faked Your Deaths to Punish Me?! That’s Illegal, Family! novel Chapter 92

Chapter 1

Boston’s feared crime lord Theo Valentine has one weakness: me.

One word from me made him abandon his criminal empire for charity work.

“You’re heaven’s most precious gift,” he’d swear.

I believed him. On graduation day, I ignored my father’s warnings and married him without hesitation.

For five years, he worshipped the ground I walked on.

Even when my father faced legal trouble, Theo hired the best lawyer money could buy.

But at trial? The key witness who could prove my father’s self-defense was mysteriously “silenced” by my loving husband.

As the judge announced the sentence, Theo was the first to stand and APPLAUD, then casually said:

“Your father killed Cassidy’s brother. He’ll just do a few years-consider it closed!”

Every emotion I’d ever felt for him crystallized into pure hatred.

With trembling fingers, I dialed the number I’d buried at the bottom of my contacts: “Commander Blake, I need your help.”

You want to consider it closed, Theo?

Not way. You and your precious Cassidy won’t escape me.

This time, I’ll personally nail you both to the deepest circle of hell!

“Your father’s just going to prison for a few years. Let’s consider this matter closed!”

I never imagined these words would come from Theo’s mouth.

Just the night before, he’d held me close, promising that justice would prevail.

But now he was personally sending my father to prison.

I spun around, grabbing his collar with all my strength. My voice came out hoarse and broken.

“WHY? Theo, why would you DO this?”

pried my hands from his collar, holding them in his grip. His eyes remained cold and distant.

old you. Your father killed someone. He should face the consequences.”

“But you KNOW it was self-defense! If he hadn’t fought back, he would’ve been…”

“That’s irrelevant, Delilah. I promised Cassidy I’d protect her. Her life can’t have any stains on it.”

I looked up, staring hard at Theo’s indifferent face.

“So what you’re saying is… my father’s life doesn’t MATTER?”

“You say Cassidy’s life can’t have any stains, but what about ME? What about my FATHER? How are we supposed to clean the stains you’ve put

on US?”

Theo frowned slightly. “You don’t need to. As my wife, who would dare speak ill of you? When your father gets out, if he wants, I’ll send him and your mother abroad to retire.”

I laughed bitterly as tears fell down my face.

“So that’s it? For the rest of our lives, we just depend on you? Live according to your arrangements?”

Displeasure flashed across Theo’s face. “Delilah, you need to learn to be reasonable.”

“This case is closed!”

Reasonable?

I yanked my hands from his grasp, filled with mockery.

“And if I’m not?”

Theo’s eyes darkened as he looked at me, like bottomless pools.

“You should know that without a witness, you can appeal as many times as you want with the same result.”

“Besides…” He leaned in close to my ear, his gaze drifting behind me.

“Delilah, you wouldn’t want someone to die because of you, would you?”

My pupils dilated in shock. I turned around to see the girl standing behind me, biting her lip, her face pale with fear.

I knew then that after today, she would never testify for my father again.

“You’re so cruel, Theo!”

All

my

emotions transformed into crushing disappointment.

I lowered my shoulders and dragged my exhausted body toward the exit.

At the end of the alley, Cassidy Morgan stood waiting, wrapped in Theo’s jacket.

When she saw me, her eyes flashed with venom.

“You’re just walking away? Doesn’t the daughter of a killer owe my brother an apology at his memorial?”

I smirked. “Killer? If my father hadn’t shown up, your brother would’ve been a rapist.”

“And you, knowing this…”

Before I could finish, Theo’s hand clamped firmly over my mouth from behind,

“Delilah, Cassidy’s right. Someone from your family needs to kneel and apologize. If not you, then it’ll have to be your mother.”

I turned my head to look at his face, unable to comprehend how the man who once claimed to love me had become so monstrous.
