Chapter 1026
With that, Edwin tore the divorce papers into pieces and threw them into the air!
Countless shreds of paper sprinkled in the air and danced around them like a heavy snowstorm.
Eric wiped the cold sweat off his forehead in horror. Since Harry's wife's death a long time ago, Old Madam Atherton had been disgusted with his constant flirting with many women and did not allow Harry to remarry.
In other words, the position of the wife in his household registration book had become vacant.
How was Harry supposed to leave a wife that he did not even have at the moment? He does not even have a wife. How can he leave?
"Mister Atherton..." stammered Eric.
"What are you still standing here for? Waiting for me to take you back to Sapphire City?" asked Edwin coldly as he glanced at the lawyer.
Eric glared at Joanne resentfully and then at Edwin. He had no choice but to leave.
"Well, now the lawyer is gone, and the divorce agreement is gone. I'm going to head back to filming first! I'm quite busy with work," said Joanne as she watched Eric leave, trying to slip away.
'I did not give you permission to go!" yelled Edwin, stopping Joanne in her tracks.
He chased after her and pulled her back forcefully. Gritting his teeth, he asked, "Why didn't you tell me that the fake pregnancy was exposed?!"
Joanne lowered her head, absent-mindedly staring straight at Edwin's shiny leather shoes. There was no dust on it at all, looking so shiny as it reflected the surrounding light.
"Did you tell Grandma that it was my idea to lie about being pregnant?" Edwin continued to ask.
Joanne still did not answer him.
"Answer me!" Edwin had been driving for seven hours all the way to Kansas City. He was so exhausted that he was on the verge of exploding in anger.
He stretched out his hand to grab Joanne's jaw. "Are you dumb? Speak!"
Noticing Joanne's wet and red eyes, Edwin was suddenly taken aback.
Without any hesitation, Joanne slapped him on the face angrily.
"Did you think I didn't explain it to Grandma? I told a white lie, but it had to be convincing enough to Grandma and your father! I had a bad family background, and so they thought I used the pregnancy as an ultimatum toward you. What can I do?!" cried Joanne.
"And you ran away for several days, not even intending to give me a call?" asked Edwin. He had been waiting for her for the past two days.
The fake pregnancy was their idea after all, with Edwin being the mastermind. Now that the truth was revealed, he naturally did not want Joanne to bear it alone. However, after waiting so long, there was still no news from her.
