Chapter 1097
Chapter 1097
Catelyn entered the Mason Estateo She sat on the couch and waited for Cedrick.
"Mrs. Manson, would you like a cup of warm tea? It has been so cold these days. It may be snowing soon." The maid brought Catelyn a cup of black tea and smiled.
"Yeah. According to the forecast, it's going to snow." Catelyn suddenly remembered the storm glass Alfred had given her.
She noticed that there was a thick layer of ice in it before she left home.
Catelyn glanced upstairs with worry. "Cedrick didn't get drunk lately, did he? ■
"Mr. Mason..."
"I’ll tell you." Before the maid could answer Catelyn, Cedrick's stern voice rang out from the stairs.
Catelyn looked up the stairs and saw Cedrick. He was wearing a loose light gray knit sweater, his short hair hanging casually on his forehead. He looked homy, not as serious as usual. She held her breath and watched as he walked down the wooden stairs until he stopped in front of her.
Finally, she saw the familiar face. Even when he smiled, the expression on his face didn't change much.
Catelyn parted her lips and stared at...
One second, two seconds, three seconds...
They looked into each other's eyes as if time froze.
After a few seconds, Catelyn stood on her tiptoes, tried to jump into his arms, hug him, apologize to him, and tell him what she had suffered all these days.
Cedrick stared at her with imperceptible affection in his eyes. But the moment her hand was about to wrap around his neck, he took a step back.
Her arm was paused in the air. She froze and looked up at him incredulously...
"Are you still mad at me? I can explain. I’ve figured it out. My dad... No. Ezekiel was using me all the time. And he colluded with others to try to murder you. I learned his secrets..."
"Your grandmother just called me. She was worried about you. She's going to have you taken back later." Cedrick interrupted her, no expression on his face.
Catelyn froze. 'Cedrick doesn't seem to care about Ezekiel or what I've learnt.'
"You're not going to hear me out but just send me home?”
"Yes." He didn't hesitate.
Catelyn asked anxiously, "Why? You were so mad at me when I defended Ezekiel earlier."
Cedrick lowered his eyes, his hands in his pants pockets. He replied, "Do you know what you look like now?"
Catelyn didn't answer. She waited for his answer.
