Chapter 1519
Chapter 1519
Tail, who had been quiet the whole time, suddenly lifted her head.
She threw her arms around Joanne's neck and pleaded with a pout, "Mama, I don't want to be apart from you."
Joanne couldn't bear to see the sadness and grievances in her eyes.
"I don't want to leave you either, but you saw how fierce that man was. It wouldn't be safe for you to stay," Joanne said, pinching Tail's chubby cheek.
Tail looked like a mini-version of Edwin. She had his eyes.
She furrowed her brow and put on her most pitiful expression.
'But I've never been away from you for this long. Please let me stay. I'm not afraid of danger. Miles can chase him away for me."
Joanne tensed up. "Do you like Miles that much?"
"Yeah!" Tail's cheeks turned rosy, and she said shyly, "He's the nicest person to me besides you, Ada, and Uncle
Patrick. I've promised him to be his girlfriend when I grow up. If
Joanne was rendered speechless.
She had never taken their children's play seriously. After all, one of them was 3.5 years old, and the other was about seven.
They were still wet behind their ears and knew nothing about relationships.
She just hadn't expected her daughter to be brainwashed by Miles to such an extent.
She must nip their puppy love in the bud.
"If I don't allow you to be Miles' girlfriend, will you listen?"
Tail bit her lip and fell silent for a few seconds before finally speaking sadly, "If you let me stay with you, I won't be his girlfriend. But I promised him first, and it was rude to break it. And... he gave me lots of gifts. He is rich."
She began to regret staying in Sapphire City on a whim.
She had been overly confident in her new appearance.
To her dismay, Edwin, Catelyn, and even Ollie had easily seen through her disguise.
Now she found herself in a dilemma once again.
"Let me think about it," Joanne sighed.
"Since Edwin already knows where Tail is, there's no need to worry about drawing too much attention. Besides, Ada will do a better job looking after Tail than Patrick does."
Jack continued to advise her. Holding her daughter, Joanne began to sway.
Just as she was about to agree, Jack's phone rang.
The caller said something, and Jack cursed, "Damn you, Edwin!"
