Passionate Devotion: Master Fudd's Beloved Wife novel Chapter 1202

It was September in North City. The blazing summer had passed. However, the clingy, lingering heat from summer had yet to dissipate.

At that time, an unofficial 3x3 basketball match was going on in the First North City High School’s basketball court. The team in blue was one man down, sitting on the bench as he watched anxiously. The blue team had two players left on the field. Two against three. The match would be a confirmed loss.

The red team’s leader pointed at his opponent and announced smugly, “Last shot to determine the winner. Jonathan Jinn, remember your words. The loser will kneel before the winner and call him daddy without involving the school and disciplinary department. Anyone that fails to uphold this is a coward.”

The blue team’s leader had an arrogant look in his eyes. His eyes glistened with a condescending smile, but he remained silent. He pointed at the opponent, then at himself, followed by a thumbs down motion, looking down on the other party.

He fully ignored the opponent’s boastful words.

The red team’s leader cursed out loud, then shot the basketball out.

The young man’s tall and energetic body made a leap, reaching his hands out at the basketball that was on its way to the hoop, intercepting the ball midair. It was then followed by a beautifully executed slam dunk.

After the ball was held by the young man, he raised his brows and shot a provoking look at his opponents. “Ha! How do you like your daddy’s demonstration of a proper slam dunk?”

“Jonathan Jinn! I’ll have you kneel before me and call me daddy soon!”

The red and blue teams started their intense competition once more.

Sweat from the young men stained the basketball court. The repeated thumping sounds from the basketball and the screeching sounds of shoes rubbing against the floor echoed in the court.

On the walkway outside the basketball court, two girls were carrying a carton of mineral water as they made their way to the basketball court.

Ginny’s eyes were glued onto the young men in the basketball court along the way. “Seanna, look, that leader from the red team is Daniel, the school hunk of the senior class. He’s so handsome! Look!”

The girl carrying the mineral water behind her glanced over lazily at the basketball court. She scoffed and retorted, “Which blind fool chose that fella as the school hunk? That senior in the red shirt is not as pleasant to the eyes compared to the one wearing number one.”

“Number one shirt… That should be the new transfer student in the senior year, Jonathan Jinn! I heard that he was constantly getting into fights in his previous high school. He’s the infamous school thug from North City Foreign Language School. However, for some reason, ever since he came to high school, he suddenly turned into a coward, not daring to do anything. All in all, he maintained a low profile. Even though he has an enviable appearance, not many picked him to be the school hunk due to his cowardice. Girls, after all, love brave heroes. Who would like such a coward? Moreover, he’s only transferred over not long ago, so not many people know of him.”

For Seanna, those gossip went in one ear and out the other. She was not interested. Her entire body exuded a weary aura as she yawned lazily.

All that school thug and school hunk business had nothing to do with her. She only wanted to study diligently, apply for her dream school and quickly leave North City.

Ginny shot a glance at her. “Seanna, why are you yawning in the middle of the day? Could it be that you were reading past midnight again last night?”

“It’s noon, time for my nap. Let’s just send this carton of water over quickly. I wonder what the school authorities are thinking, conducting a qualifying match for the basketball competition in the middle of the day.”

Ginny teased, “Probably the same as your line of thought, not wanting to waste their time for studies, hence resulting in them organizing these pointless activities during noon break and continuing the classes in the afternoon.”

Seanna and Ginny carried the carton of mineral water into the basketball court, then delivered it to each of the judges’ tables.

The scorching sun hung over their heads.

Seanna felt that she could pass out at any moment. If not for her inability to reject the class teacher’s assignment, she would never come over to the basketball court under the scorching heat even if offered a hundred bucks.

Just as she was thinking about the geometry questions for that afternoon’s math class, she felt stumped. Spatial geometry was her weakness, but it was also the section that awarded the most points in her college entrance exam. She needed to master geometry.

Suddenly, Ginny’s high pitched screech pierced through her ear drums, “Seanna! Watch out!”

A basketball came flying toward her in a straight line like a fireball.

Seanna stood still in place as her brain went blank, filled with only mathematical equations for physics.

That basketball’s trajectory and speed went against all logics of physics.

Bang!

She suffered a concussion.

Seanna’s head was knocked sideways from the impact.

The basketball fell to the ground, bouncing a few times on the basketball court.

Beside her, Ginny was calling out to her in a worried tone, “Seanna, Seanna? Are you okay?”

A sense of dizziness washed over her.

Seanna’s view went black and she instantly passed out.

That ball was capable of knocking someone senseless.

At the moment Seanna fell to the floor, she thought that she might never be able to make it into Capital City University anymore, all because of that basketball.

In the hospital…

“From the CT scan of the brain, the patient’s cranium shows no sign of internal hemorrhage. However, it did suffer a concussion from the impact. She would need to recuperate in bed for at least a week. During this time, she’s not to get off the bed for any physical activities or it might affect her recovery.”

Jonathan never thought that his basketball would smack a young lady so hard that she would be hospitalized.

Jonathan asked, “Doctor, this won’t leave behind any chronic conditions, right?”
