When Jean saw that Brad finally noticed her, she burst into louder sobs.
"Brad, you were unwell last night, and I took care of you! Have you forgotten?" she sobbed. "I looked after you all night. You kept calling my name and pulling at my clothes."
She wrapped herself tightly in the blanket, crying even more pitifully. Then, she turned away and wiped her tears with the corner of the blanket
Daniel was consumed with rage when he saw Jean sobbing in distress. He dashed out of the bedroom, grabbed an old broom that hadn't been used in years, and swung it at Brad.
"How dare you commit adultery? Our family has always upheld its honor. We've never stooped so low. Are you trying to destroy our family's reputation? Bastard, I'm going to make sure you learn your lesson!"
The old broom was a relic passed down through generations. According to family rules, daughters who misbehaved faced time-outs, while sons like Brad received a thorough beating with the broom until they were incapacitated.
Brad's actions had pushed Daniel to his breaking point. In Brad's bedroom, the two were caught in a chaotic confrontation. Brad fled in panic while Daniel swung the broom furiously, creating a scene of mayhem.
The maids were daunted by Daniel's rage. They watched from a safe distance, wary of getting caught in the crossfire. After all, disputes between a father and son rarely ended well.
Brad had the physical advantage due to his youth and regular exercise. Although Daniel was in good shape for his age, he couldn't match Brad's vitality.
