Augustus was staring at his most loyal man. Beta Mateo. He is now standing before his Alpha, with his head lowered.

He has learned the truth now and this is high time to inform Alpha about their enemies. But, the worst thing is, The enemy is his own mate who even backstabbed him.

"Speak, Mateo," Augustus ordered. Though he already knows some things, he did not inform Mateo beforehand. He wants to see what his beta does.

Mateo sighed inwardly. He needs to speak and there is no other option for him. He cannot go against his morals and responsibilities. Moreover, Carina did wrong things and her punishment is destined. What she did even after Luna's kindness toward her, she deserves to be punished.

"Alpha, As you asked me to investigate more deeply in the scent replication matter, I did and lots of hidden truth came forward."

"Hmm..." Augustus hummed as he stared deeply at his Beta.

"I..." Mateo inhaled a sharp breath and looked up at Augustus. "I have found out the main culprits in this, Alpha. It was always Alice, Adrian and Carina."

"They planned it all together to hurt Luna Charlotte and split both of you."

Augustus felt his heart clenched watching his Beta AKA best friend. Mateo's eyes were dull and filled with sadness and it's a very truth of life that he actually did not hide the facts.

Augustus let the Alpha side slip away from his face and gestured for him to take a seat. Mateo obliged.

"What happened, Mateo?" Augustus asked. His tone turned friendly for his best friend and heard Mateo sighing.

He shook his head. "I could only wish for this to be the biggest lie Augustus, but... What I have witnessed by my own eyes and ears, how could I let it slip?"

"I never thought Carina would do such a thing... It's not only now, but she did try to hurt Luna Charlotte even before you guys met. That time she was caught and got banished from the pack but it was unannounced, because of her father. He was the loyal beta of Luna Charlotte's father. So, Alpha let it slide."

Augustus frowned, "she was banished? But, she does not smell like one." He asked in confusion.

Mateo nodded his head. "Yeah, that's because Alice took her in their pack. She is now the Blue Moon pack's member and working with them to hurt Luna Charlotte. Basically, it was her who took a sample of your scent to them."

Augustus gasped inwardly and did not let it see him. "If she is not a member of Golden Heart and tried to hurt Charlotte, why she never told me about it?"

Mateo shook his head, "Luna Charlotte does not know about it. Only their fathers and one loyal Omega servant of Luna's father know about it."

He lowered his head, "I am sorry, Augustus. I should have let you know the first time I get to know this. But... Luna asked me to not tell and I stopped. I should not have stopped."

Augustus frowned again. "Charlotte knew?"

"Is it Mr Adrian Romano?" A male voice spoke from the other side. The voice was unfamiliar. Still, he nodded, "Speaking. Who are you?" He raised his brow.

"Oh, thank God, Mr Romano. I am a nobody. Well, someone who does not have much worth." The man replied.

Adrian's lips raised slightly in satisfaction. "At least you know yourself. Now, spill what the fuck you want." He kept his tone cold.

"Umm... Alpha Romano, I have some information to give you." The man said. His tone was shaky as if he is afraid of Adrian's aura.

"Information?" His brow raised again. "What is it?"

"The information is about your sister, Alice." The man replied. "Recently, I have heard Miss Milano talking to her friend. She has found her mate. But... her mate is an omega and your family would never accept an omega for her mate. So, she decided to flee away with that guy."

Adrian, who was almost lying on the chair, immediately sat straight. His brows furrowed and blood rushed up to his head. "What the fuck you are talking about!? How dare you split such nonsense about her!?"

"Goddess forbid, why would I lie to my master? My Alpha?" The man replied right away. "I have never lied to you, my Alpha. I know you love your sister so much! And when I heard this, I could not help but inform you, Alpha. I am a nobody, and I don't have the ability to face my Alpha. So, I only could let you know by phone. I have proof, Alpha. If you don't believe me, please go to the dark forest beside the river tonight. You will find out the truth by yourself, Alpha." With that, the man hung up and Adrian stared at the phone.

He throws his phone away, smashing it into pieces. "If this is the truth, I will fucking close you in the dark cell!" He roared.
