Reborn From Ashes novel Chapter 199

Meanwhile, Hayden and Jenny had just returned to shore and were planning to grab some food when they spotted a familiar figure nearby.

"Wait… is that you, Dr. Kray?" Hayden's eyes widened in surprise when he recognized the man.

"Here I am, ready to give you your second treatment. And you? You didn't even bother reaching out to me!" Wagner sat casually in a reclining chair, his calm demeanor drawing curious glances from passersby.

"Do you think you're fully healed just because you feel better now?" Wagner's voice was light scolding as he stared directly at Hayden.

Hayden immediately lowered his head, feeling a bit embarrassed. "I've been so busy with finals and college prep that it's completely slipped my mind. That's on me. It's my fault."

Lately, Hayden's joint pain had vanished, even in damp weather. This made him assume he was fully recovered, but Wagner clearly didn't think so.

"That's enough excuses," Wagner said with a wave of his hand. "I'm not one to harp on the past. I said I'd see your treatment through, and I will. Find a spot, I'll do some acupuncture, and then you can go about your day."

Wagner's easygoing tone matched his relaxed appearance, but his presence exuded authority. He had been spending time in Stonybrook, exploring its scenic spots while keeping track of Hayden's treatment schedule. Luckily, he'd run into him today. Otherwise, reconnecting might've been tricky.

"Got it!" Hayden nodded eagerly.

Looking around, Hayden frowned slightly. "But there are too many people here, Dr. Kray. Maybe we should find a quieter spot?" he suggested.

Wagner smirked. "Sure, if you're shy, go find us a place."

Hayden's mouth twitched. What did this have to do with shyness? However, he chose not to argue and motioned for the group to move along.
