"Hayden, what did you do? Why is there my name, too?" Serena was shocked as well. Her heart thumped wildly.
The three were dumbfounded by what they saw.
There were so many properties, and according to Hayden, they cost 70 million dollars. It was an inconceivable amount of money. Yet he had spent it all in one morning. How bold!
More importantly, all the properties he had bought now belonged to Jenny and Serena! They didn't expect that at all.
"The Sterlings have been keeping an eye on me. If I own so many properties, they'll surely question where the money came from.
"I don't want them to know. I don't want anything to do with them either. Putting the properties under your names is the safest option," Hayden explained.
"Still, this is too much. Let's put that in writing. We can't just accept these for nothing." With a serious expression, Serena immediately took out a pen and paper to write an agreement. It would serve as a reassuring response to Hayden as well.
"Don't bother with that. We're family. Do we really need to put it in writing?" Hayden looked at Serena with a puzzled expression.
"Family…" That word gave Serena and James a pause.
After Hayden went to the Sterling residence, they hadn't heard words like that for a very long time.
"In truth, I've been meaning to speak with you for a while. I've cut ties with the Sterlings, and I want to go no contact with them going forward. You're my father, and you're my mother. Just like before."
Hayden looked at James and then at Serena. His intense gaze and unwavering demeanor moved the couple.
For three years, this was what they had been hoping for.
"In the future, all you have to do is rest and count your money at home. You won't have to toil away at your jobs anymore. Take care of your health. I won't be at ease if you're not well."
Hayden spoke of the future in high spirits. However, he was the only one who wished for that future.
"That's unacceptable. Labor is the meaning of life. We shouldn't make money by doing nothing," Serena refused immediately.
"There's about 70 or 80 properties. If we collect rent from two households in one day, we'll be collecting rent for the entire month. You can't say we're doing nothing.
"Hehe. My fingers will go numb from counting that much money. Have you experienced that kind of life, Hayden?"
Holding the property deeds, Jenny fantasized about living as a wealthy lady in the future.
