For many of the twelfth-graders, the mock exams were a big deal.
Over two stressful days, they poured their hearts into answering every question, hoping to gauge how well they were really doing.
After the exams ended, Hayden walked out of the school gates and let out a long sigh of relief. Based on his own calculations, he felt that he had done pretty well and could expect a decent score.
"Don't forget our bet tomorrow when the scores come out!" Roy came over with a grin and gave Hayden a playful slap on the shoulder.
Roy was confident that Hayden wouldn't be able to score insanely well. Hence, he was already looking forward to his daily stash of Cheetos as part of the wager.
"Don't worry. You'll see soon enough," Hayden responded with a mysterious smile, as if he already knew what the outcome would be.
When he got home, Hayden became the center of attention—everyone in the Caldwell family was eager to know how he did on the exams.
"It's alright," Hayden said with a modest smile while enjoying the delicious dinner before him.
"Don't get too comfortable, though! The SAT is just around the corner, so keep that momentum going and aim for an even higher score!" James nodded with a delighted smile.
"Exactly! Consider this your practice and treat it as a learning opportunity for everything that you missed. You'll definitely ace the real thing, then." Serena gently ruffled Hayden's hair with a loving smile.
"I know you did great, Hayden! This time, you're definitely going to get a guaranteed spot at Brighton University!" Jenny was full of excitement as she puffed out her cheeks playfully. Her cheerful energy even made their parents smile.
A guaranteed spot at Brighton University? That was no easy feat. It was a rare achievement, one that few could accomplish, so could Hayden really be one of them?
