Reborn From Ashes novel Chapter 89

Francis and Morgan were so appreciative of each other that anyone else would've given them an applause out of respect. However, Victor, who was standing in front of them, remained unmoved.

"So, where's Hayden?" Victor continued to ask, his gaze turning a little sharp and cold as well.

"What's the rush, Mr. Grant? The dishes will be served soon." Anna also stalled and persuaded him.

Victor felt helpless, so he had no choice but to suppress his feelings and have dinner with the Sterlings. Before long, delicious dishes were brought to the dining table. They smelled and tasted superb.

Victor couldn't help but feel stunned when he saw the dishes. What a luxurious dinner! He had been invited to dinner by some wealthy people in the capital, but they were only able to offer him the same standard of dishes.

It was no wonder they said that wealthy people could've come from small places as well. This place and the Sterling family were truly something extraordinary.

So, Victor no longer hesitated. Instead, he dug into the dishes while Francis kept refreshinghis wine glass, treating him to drink after drinks.

Slowly but surely, Victor couldn't resist the temptation of alcohol. What was more was that he drank more and more wine as the night deepened. He also grew increasingly disoriented, and he was wobbling so much that he couldn't even sit properly.

"You have no idea the kind of pressure I face at the university right now, Francis. The people at Brighton University are insanely competitive. Some professors even make a connection to the students who enrolled in the university.

"They do it because some students turn out to be helpful and exploitable after they graduate. You have to let Anna become my apprentice. We have to become closer to each other." Victor threw his arm around Francis and tried to cozy up to the latter in his inebriated state.

Victor was acting completely different from the way he did in the earlier evening, and it somewhat shocked the Sterlings. True to the form—alcohol did the trick.
