Reborn to My Engagement Night
Chapter 137 Downright Shameless

No sooner had Sebastian left the ward than a pang of regret hit him. He couldn’t help but feel slightly annoyed at himself, for his words carlier had seemingly been a bit too harsh.
In truth, he had always been a person of great self–restraint. Be it in the face of aggressive clients, friends, or relatives, he was often able to control his emotions well.
No matter how unhappy he was, he could still maintain a polite smile, betraying no flaws.
But for some reason, his self–restraint seemingly failed when it came to Madelyn, having no effect whatsoever.
The thought of how he had spent the entire night worrying about her yesterday was still fresh in his mind. He was terrified that something untoward might have happened to her and even resolved to make sure that the perpetrator also met her end if anything had happened to her.
Unexpectedly, she returned the very next day but intimately sprawled on another man’s back.
Sebastian couldn’t help but feel infuriated.
It felt as if a boulder weighed on his heart heavily, making it difficult to breathe to the point that he might suffocate.
Why? Why couldn’t she stay put for once? Why couldn’t she stay by my side? Why must she always play the field? Even if it wasn’t Christopher, it was someone else. Couldn’t she behave for once and spare me the worry?
The more Sebastian thought about it, the more distressed he felt. In the end, he strode away.
As Madelyn lay on the hospital bed after Sebastian had left, his words earlier replayed in her mind incessantly–since you desire freedom so much, I will grant it to you as soon as possible.
Suddenly, she bolted upright in bed. She was anxious like a cat on a hot tin roof, unable to calm down.
Why did things end up like this? I’d been given a rare chance and reincarnated for no other reason than to win him back and make amends for my mistakes in the previous life, keeping him by my side! How could he possibly want to call off our engagement? No, no way! I can’t allow that to happen! If he were to do that for real, I’d be utterly devastated.
Following that thought, Madelyn immediately slammed her hand on the emergency button on the wall.
An alarm blared in the nurse’s station, startling several nurses. Immediately, they sent someone to check on the situation.
To the nurse’s surprise, as soon as she entered the ward, she saw Madelyn attempting to yank the IV needle out of her hand forcefully. The sight had her heart jolt, and she rushed over in a panic. “Miss, miss, what are you doing? Calm down. You can’t pull that out!”
She fervently shielded Madelyn’s hand, in which an IV drip was still attached, preventing her from p ng the needle out.
Alas, Madelyn couldn’t possibly be bothered with all that. While yanking the IV out, she declared loudly, “Let go of me! I want to leave the hospital! I need to leave right now.”

However, the blood in the syringe had already started flowing backward. Madelyn remained resolue, saying. “Either you remove it for me, or I’ll do it myself. Either way, I’m leaving the hospital now. The choice is yours.”
The nurse was very much conflicted upon hearing that. “I’m afraid that’s not possible, miss. You’d best wait until your IV drip is finished before leaving.”
“Gosh, talking to you is like talking to a wall,” Madelyn said helplessly. Then, she again proceeded to remove
the needle herself.
Just then, a furious shout came from outside the door. “Madelyn, what are you doing?”
The voice was both sharp and loud, strikingly familiar.
At last, Madelyn stilled and looked beyond the door.
The newcomers were Sebastian’s mother, Marsha, Agnes, whose hair was all gray and Beatrice, who was dressed elegantly.
The furious shout earlier was naturally from Beatrice, for she was the only one who would act so rudely.
Upon seeing them, Madelyn naturally stopped kicking up a fuss. However, she couldn’t help but ask in confusion, “Mom, Grandma, Beatrice, what brings you all here?”
At that moment, Marsha supported Agnes into the ward. Beatrice followed closely behind, but she said sarcastically at the side, “Do you think we wouldn’t know when the commotion you caused last night was massive, and you embarrassed the Lockhart family completely?”
Madelyn paled uncontrollably. But considering the presence of the elders, she had no choice but to rein her temper in and reply calmly, “Beatrice, with Mom and Grandma here, please don’t spout nonsense.”
“I’m spouting nonsense?” Beatrice rolled her eyes in displeasure. “Then, Ask Aunt Marsha if I wrongly accused you.”
Left without a retort, Madelyn could only shift her gaze to Marsha and greet softly, “Mom.”
“You still even remember who I am to you?” Marsha scoffed, not mincing her words either. “I thought you had finally settled down. Alas, you created such a huge mess for the family again. I don’t know what to say about you anymore.”
“Mom, I didn’t.” Condemned by the two of them right off the bat, Madelyn felt utterly at a loss for a convincing explanation.
Fortunately, Agnes spoke up for her at that precise moment. “That’s enough. We’re here to visit Madelyn. Besides, you haven’t even heard her side of the story yet. Don’t be so quick to blame her. What if you accused her wrongly?”
At her words, a wealth of warmth inexorably suffused Madelyn.
However, supporting Agnes at that moment, Beatrice was seemingly eager to stir up trouble. She deliberately added fuel to the fire at the side, saying, “Grandma, we didn’t accuse her. Her shameful behavior is common knowledge. She had a clandestine meeting with Christopher yesterday and even caused such huge trouble that Sebastian had to search everywhere for her. She’s downright shameless.”
