After the car had screeched to a halt, a group of tall and burly men dressed in black swiftly got out of the vehicle. Each one of them wore a mask.
The mask bore a delicate little design. It was the customized logo of Oceanic Empire.
“Good heavens! What on earth is going on here?” Tristan said, utterly bewildered.
Josiah and Madelyn were utterly baffled, clueless about what was going on exactly. All they knew was that the men radiated an overwhelining sense of intimidation.
At that moment, two men silently made their way over.
When one of them approached, he immediately pointed guns against the heads of Josiah and Tristan. He ordered in Uprian, “Open the door.”
In other words, he was blackmailing them to unlock the car door.
Josiah’s heart jolted. D*mn it! He’s actually carrying a gun!
He looked at Madelyn hesitantly. “Hey, what should we do?”
Madelyn glanced at the guns pointed at the two boys‘ heads and could only heave a sigh. “If you don’t want to die, open the door.”
Subsequently, the car door swung open with a slight creaking sound.
At that moment, the other man clad in black leaned in. Seizing Madelyn by the shoulders, he roughly yanked her out with brute force.
“Let go of me! Who are the lot of you?” Madelyn struggled wildly a couple of times.
However, her meager strength was simply insignificant compared to that of the burly man.
In less than a minute, Madelyn was silenced with a hand over her mouth and forced into a black car.
The guns pointed at the boys‘ heads were put away then, and the man wielding them got into the car as well.
Shortly after, the car sped off.
Everything happened so abruptly that Josiah was caught off guard. His mind whirred for some time before he finally registered what had happened.
As he stared at the car that had sped off into the distance, his expression–suddenly changed dramatically and he shouted, “Madelyn!”
Unfortunately, Madelyn could no longer hear him.
Tristan had also finally gathered his wits about him. Right then, he was equally anxious. “Josiah, what should we do now? Could those men earlier have been the handiwork of Jillian’s brother?”

Deep down, however, he was profoundly shocked. What did that madwoman, Madelyn, do to get herself entangled with such a terrifying group of people?
Tristan was likewise shocked. “We don’t even know who they are, so how are we supposed to rescue Madelyn?”

At that moment, Josiah concentrated and pondered for a while. Suddenly, he floored the accelerator, heading straight home.
At the Blume residence, Felix was in his room right then, watching a rerun of the news on television.
The sight of the regal soldiers on television had a proud smile tugging at the corners of his mouth.
At that precise moment, Josiah suddenly barge in, frantic.
“Mr. Josiah, Mr. Josiah! Old. Mr. Blume has retired for the night. If there’s anything, please discuss it with him tomorrow.” The housekeeper followed behind him but was unable to stop him.
No sooner had those words rang out than Josiah pushed open Felix’s room door.
He never comes home once in several days. Yet, he returned in such a rush today. Seeing him, Felix was just about to speak when Josiah said urgently, “Grandpa, I need some men!”
Felix couldn’t help but narrow his eyes.
It was the first time that unlearned and incompetent grandson of his had ever asked him for manpower.
In the past, regardless of the
trouble Josiah found himself in out there, he always took it on alone. He preferred to rely on his fair–weather friends for assistance and never sought help from his family.
By then, Benedict and Mary heard that their son had returned and went straight to his grandfather’s room, so they hurried over to check on the situation.
But just as they approached the door, they overheard him asking for manpower from Felix.
Subconsciously, they assumed that he must have gotten into trouble again. Without uttering a word, Benedict stormed in to dish out punishment.
“Have you been caused trouble out there again, you brat? I’m going to beat pummel you to a pulp!” While saying that, he swung his fist through the air.
Upon seeing that, Tristan quickly rushed over and stopped him, explaining, “Please calm down, Mr. Benedict. Things are not what you think. Josiah didn’t cause any trouble out there. It’s just that his friend had been taken away!”
“What kind of friend?” Felix asked calmly just then.
Thinking about Madelyn, Josiah went silent for a while before he finally said, “A female friend.”
“Which female friend?” Felix was still as calm as ever.

Felix, Benedict, and Mary were naturally aware of Madelyn’s existence. After all, she brought about many changes in Josiah.
Therefore, the whole family was somewhat worried upon hearing that something had happened to her.
Felix asked anxiously, “Who exactly took her away?”
“Um… we don’t know.” Tristan silently lowered his head.
Surprisingly, it was Josiah who was more observant when they were intercepted earlier.
