The following day, during the finance class, the classroom, originally filled with noise and chaos, fell into an immediate silence as Professor Ruth Pierson walked in.

Ruth wore glasses. Her eyes were large, and her cheekbones were high. Her lips were thin, and her figure was that of an average woman, neither remarkable nor unattractive. However, her facial features gave off a rather intimidating impression.

Ruth was said to be the strictest professor in the Department of Finance. Typically, if a student performed poorly on an exam, she would criticize them severely.

Madelyn knew her grades were subpar, making her an easy target for criticism. Hence, she had mentally prepared herself in advance.

Ruth stepped onto the podium, her gaze sweeping across the room. “Next, I’ll announce your thesis grades.

Following that, the outstanding theses were praised, while the subpar ones were critiqued. Some in the class were elated, and others were disheartened.

In the end. Ruth pushed up her glasses resting on the bridge of her nose and suddenly said with a mysterious tone, “However, this time, there’s a student in our class whose thesis deserves commendation.”

Then, she glanced toward Madelyn. “Madelyn, your paper this time received an unprecedented high score of ninety–eight, making you the top of the class in terms of paper grades.”

What? Upon hearing the news, Madelyn was filled with astonishment and joy, her hand instinctively covering her mouth.

She had never imagined that she could achieve such a high score.

Janessa’s expression drastically changed, and her eyes widened in astonishment. Madelyn’s thesis won first place? How could this be possible?

The other classmates were all abuzz, discussing that matter in hushed tones.

No one could believe it. Madelyn, the unlearned and incompetent young lady, had astonishingly topped the class with her thesis.

Ruth also found it hard to believe. She cast a disdainful glance at Madelyn. “But, Madelyn, this doesn’t seem like your usual academic performance. Can you tell me how did you manage to score so high?”

The classmates nearby were also puzzled. “That’s right. Madelyn’s grades used to be at the bottom of the class. How did she improve so much this time?”

“I cant believe it. There must be something fishy going on here. Do you think it’s possible that she didn’t write this paper herself?”

“That’s right. It’s highly likely.”

At that moment, a girl suddenly stood up, stirring up the crowd. “Professor Pierson, we all agree that there’s something fishy about Madelyn’s paper this time. She either hired someone online to write it or copied it from the internet. Otherwise, considering Madelyn’s previous grades, how could she possibly

The girls around chimed in, “Exactly. Madelyn has been at the bottom of the class throughout her four years in university, How could her grades suddenly improve by leaps and bounds?”

That’s right! She must’ve done something shady.”

Madelyn recognized the girl who was leading the compotion. They were those who usually hung out with Janessa.

The one who led the commotion was named Felicity Lowe.

Without a doubt, Janessa had clearly instigated those girls to cause a commotion.

At that moment, Janessa, who was not far dway, was glaring at Madelyn, her eyes filled with rage and

resentment.

She hadn’t expected that not only would her thesis be overshadowed by Jillian, but even Madelyn, that foolish woman, had managed to outshine her.

This is simply outrageous! Janessa’s face contorted with jealousy. Who do they think they are? I am supposed to be the one in the center of attention, the best among them all! Why are they overshadowing me and stealing my thunder?

And so, Janessa gave Felicity a meaningful glance.

Felicity grasped Janessa’s intention and brazenly lashed out at Madelyn. “Madelyn, I advise you to come clean. Out of a perfect score of one hundred, you got minety–eight? Ha! Who would believe that?”

Madelyn knew that no one believed in her, but she simply scoffed, unfazed by their disbelief.

“A clean hand wants no washing. This is my thesis. I typed out each word personally. If you don’t believe it, what can I do?”

After speaking, he gratefully turned his gaze toward Jillan. “But, there is indeed someone I need to thank. Jillian, if it weren’t for you lending me your notes and helping me highlight the key points, I wouldn’t have been able to write such a good paper. Thank you.”

Jillian was taken aback. She hadn’t expected Madelyn to thank her publicly, and tears instantly welled up in her eyes.

However, Madelyn was well aware that even though Jillian had outlined the key points, it was Sebastian who had explained them to her.

Therefore, the credit should’ve belonged to Sebastian.

However, now that rumors were swirling around Jillian and she was caught up in the eye of the storm, Madelyn thought she should offer whatever help she could.

However, Ruth was notoriously strict. Madelyn had always been quirky, and her studies were a complete mess. Ruth had always found Madelyn exasperating.

Yet, at that moment, Madelyn produced such an excellent thesis. Naturally, Ruth was unconvinced.

Not to mention, she wasn’t really fond of Madelyn in the first place.
