“Benedict, this doesn’t seem like a good thing.” Mary furrowed her brows, feeling that something was
amiss..
Josiah had always been somewhat mischievous since childhood, and his family had never truly witnessed the extent of his abilities before. If he were defeated, it would be a significant embarrassment.
“Mason, do you really think this is a good idea? You’re well aware of Josiah’s behavior, too. Apart from being playful, he’s practically useless. Maybe I should tell Ms. Thornton to call this off?” Xander suggested, preparing to seek out Madelyn.
However, Mason immediately grabbed his hand. “Be patient, Xander.”
As he spoke, he glanced at Felix
Felix observed Madelyn and Josiah with great interest, seemingly looking forward to the test. He was curious to see how much Josiah had improved since being with Madelyn.
Seeing the situation, Xander had no choice but to abandon his idea. He then quietly prayed in his heart, hoping Josiah would be lucky.
“Hayden, you may choose now,” said Madelyn.
She appeared fearless and even somewhat domineering. Her presence clearly overshadowed Hayden’s.
Hayden smiled slyly. This woman sure is full of herself. Well, in that case, I’ll allow her to indulge in her arrogance for a while before I make her realize her mistake!
Then, he picked someone.
Madelyn also pulled Josiah aside, lowering her voice to speak seriously. “Did you see that? Your family is filled with snobs. They will trample over you ruthlessly if you don’t pull yourself together, just like Hayden, does! Moreover, if you don’t pull yourself together, your friends and immediate family members will be humiliated along with you. However, they didn’t do anything wrong. Would you really let them suffer undeservedly because of you?”
Of course no!! Josiah tightened his fists.
Though he always appeared to be frivolous, in reality, only he understood his seemingly rebellious. demeanor was actually his way of escaping from his family issues.
In the Blume family, not many held him in high regard, apart from his parents and siblings. The rest of them were fence–sitters, swaying whichever way the wind blew.
Josiah had no intention of being looked down upon by such trash, and he especially didn’t want his immediate family members to be humiliated because of his incompetence!
As he thought about that, the determination in his eyes gradually burned brighter.
When Madelyn saw his reaction, she became at ease. Nevertheless, she didn’t hesitate to give him a swift kick, warning, “Josiah, if you don’t teach Hayden a lesson today, we’re done being friends. Look out for yourself.

In reality, Josiah possessed immense potential. However, he had been blinding himself to it all along. Madelyn firmly believed what happened next could definitely unlock his hidden potential that night.
If that still weren’t enough to bring out his true talents, then Josiah would truly be doomed.
In no time, Hayden picked a tall and burly subordinate:
That person was from the same battalion as Hayden. He had well–developed muscles that made him appear extremely robust, and at first glance, it was clear he was a seasoned fighter.
Josiah stood opposite him, appearing rather delicate in comparison. It seemed as if it would take two of him to match the burly man.
Onlookers couldn’t help but chuckle at the stark contrast between the two individuals, silently concluding that Josiah was surely done for.
Hayden was feeling quite smug as he approached the muscular man. “Remember to go easy on him. Just a touch will do. Josiah’s physique isn’t the best, and I don’t want him hurt.”
Everyone could detect the sarcasm in Hayden’s tone, and they grinned silently, waiting in anticipation for the drama to unfold.
The big guy was feeling quite confident and said, “Lieutenant Hayden, don’t worry. I can handle ten guys like your cousin all by myself.”
After finishing his sentence, he looked at Josiah with clear disdain. His tone was arrogant as he asked, “How do you want to compete, buddy?”
Madelyn was amused. They’re already celebrating. I think it’s time they learn not to judge a book by its cover!
“Since you’re a military officer, why don’t you two compete with military fighting techniques?” Madelyn suddenly suggested with a smile.
Upon hearing that, the burly man burst into hearty laughter and spoke cockily. “Ms, Thornton, I advise you to choose something else. After all, Mr. Josiah is not a military officer. He surely can’t match us, who’ve undergone specialized training in military fighting techniques. I don’t want to go too far by accident later and end up breaking a few of his ribs. That won’t be good.”
“Enough with the nonsense!” Upon hearing those words, Josiah responded angrily, “Just get on with it!”
The burly man scoffed dismissively. “You said it, Mr. Josiah. No hard feelings!”
Following that, the two prepared to fight.
They promptly shed their restrictive formal jackets, loosened their ties, and rolled up their white sleeves, ready for action.
Thus, the vast banquet hall was transformed into a fighting ring for the two.
Everyone seemed to have already determined the outcome because they thought Josiah was a good–for- nothing who couldn’t win against the big guy.
Unexpectedly, the big brute charged straight at Josiah s the brute’s fist swung toward Josiah, his potential was unleashed. He swiftly bent down and hoisted up the brute by the latter’s waist. Then, he slammed his opponent onto the ground
