“Sure.” The young couple agreed in unison.
Following that, the family of three joyfully sat around the table, sharing a meal together.

Madelyn was so well–behaved during the meal, eating in small bites while stealing occasional glances at
Sebastian.
Derek took in everything from the corner of his eye and smiled without a word.
At that moment, Madelyn suddenly remembered something and asked, “By the way, Dad, has Eunice been home recently?”
The cheerful look on Derek’s face was immediately replaced by gloom.
A pang of distress struck Madelyn when she observed the change in her father’s demeanor, but she thought it was understandable.
After all, Eunice was Derek’s beloved daughter, too. Blood was thicker than water, so of course he was heartbroken to have been betrayed by a member of his family.
Despite so, Madelyn still felt it was necessary to offer a few words of caution. “Dad, I know you love Eunice, but she’s been led astray. You can’t see her as the same person she used to be anymore. Of course, it’d be great if she could stay out of trouble. I wouldn’t step in and make things difficult for her. However, if that girl starts acting out of line and does something inappropriate after being influenced by others, you absolutely mustn’t go soft on her. Otherwise, you’d be enabling her bad behavior. Do you understand?
Derek’s irritation grew when he heard that..
Eunice’s matter was the last thing he wanted to hear about.
Regina and Eunice were the biggest mistakes of his life
With that in mind, he sighed. “I understand. Just take care of your own affairs. Don’t worry about me
anymore.”
Upset by Derek’s response, Madelyn pursed her lips but didn’t say anything else.
After finishing their meal, the couple then headed home.
On the way back home, Madelyn was lost in her thoughts.
She had only one thing on her mind, which was to thoroughly investigate what her rebellious stepsister, Eunice, who had mysteriously disappeared recently, was up to.
Of course, there was also Regina, who seemed to have vanished off the face of the earth since the divorce.
“The duo weren’t easy to deal with, so Madelyn grew suspicious when they hadn’t been doing anything for a long while.
At the same time, worry gnawed at her heart. What if they held a grudge against Dad and were plotting something? Dad’s so unguarded, and there’s no telling what might happen if he fell into their trap.

that dangerous place, so get some rest. Stop overthinking for now.”
Madelyn nodded. I am indeed tired.

She stopped dwelling on those thoughts and nestled up to Sebastian, asking, “Sebastian, have you missed me?”
Sebastian remained silent.
Displeased, she pestered him. “Why aren’t you saying anything? I don’t care. I’ll take that as a yes. You have missed me.”
A faint smile tugged at the corners of Sebastian’s lips. He then asked, “What exactly did those people want with you?”
It was Madelyn’s turn to fall silent.
Sebastian became even more puzzled.
Madelyn wailed inwardly. I can’t possibly tell him they needed me for my superpowers, can I?
She laughed it off and said, “It’s nothing. They just asked me to help handle a few things.”
Her explanation only made him even more curious.
Why does Oceanic Empire need the help of a girl like her? She just a wealthy heiress, with no money, no power, and no influence of her own. How can she be of any help to them?
Sebastian asked, “What exactly do they need your help for?”
“Um…” Madelyn appeared troubled.
Setting aside the absurdity of this matter, this was Oceanic Empire’s secret, and Madelyn couldn’t possibly
disclose it.
Moreover, Morgana had specifically instructed her that this matter must be kept confidential at all costs and that she was not to tell anyone, not even the people closest to her. This added to her worries, and her greatest concern was that she might risk dragging Sebastian into the mess and potentially bring harm to her family if she revealed this matter.
That was the reason that held her back.
Deep down, she didn’t mind suffering, but she couldn’t bear having her loved ones face danger along with
her.
She smiled and brushed it off. “It’s nothing really, Just some minor tasks.”
