“Dad, I was just blinded by foolishness. All I wanted was to gain more influence in the company through this incident. I only wanted to help you, Dad. Please, I beg you, forgive me!” Eunice pleaded through sobs.
Eunice clutched onto Derek’s pant leg while kneeling on the ground. Tears streamed down her face,
Madelyn, however, let out a cold laugh, her tone laced with contempt. “Eunice, you’re too foolish. Since our father already agreed to let you intern at the company, you’ll certainly have a place here in the future. Why would you need to resort to such tactics to stand out? Do you have any idea how close you were to destroying all the hard work Father put in over the years? Because of your little stunt, the entire company was on the brink of being buried with your vanity. What do you have to say for yourself now?”
“Shut up!” Eunice suddenly shouted at Madelyn. “If it wasn’t for you, how could I have ended up like this? In fact, if it weren’t for you, the Thornton family would have been mine long ago! You evil woman! You’ve stolen everything from me. Everything!”
Eunice seemed to lose control, her anguished screams echoing without end.
Slap!
Suddenly, a crisp, loud slap echoed through the air.
Derek was livid as he ordered, “Eunice, get out of my sight! Now! Madelyn has always been working for the good of our family, but what about you? You’re nothing but a curse! I’ve treated you well all these years, yet this is how you repay me? If that’s the case, you’re no longer welcome in the Thornton family. From now on, leave this house and never set foot here again!”
He continued, “I, Derek Thornton, hereby declare that you are no longer my daughter!”
After speaking, Derek leaned back, collapsing onto the sofa with his eyes shut, and promptly passed out.
“Dad!”
Madelyn darted forward upon seeing her father had fainted. She hastily cried out, “Cyrus, call an ambulance, quickly!”
Cyrus didn’t dare to delay another second. He immediately contacted the ambulance before helping Madelyn to sit Derek up.
Meanwhile, Eunice’s gaze was overflowing with hatred.
D*mn old man, why don’t you just drop dead? It’d be best if you did! When you’re gone, all of this will finally be over!
Rage began to tinge Eunice’s eyes as that vile thought crossed her mind.
Then, when no one was paying attention, Eunice suddenly lunged forward like a wild beast, tightly clutching Derek’s throat.
She shrieked, “Go and die! Why do you even bother living? Do you have any idea how annoying you really are? You’ve always favored Madelyn since we were kids. Where do I fall short compared to her? And you dare to say you’ve treated me fairly? The truth is, you’ve never really acknowledged my mother and me. What right do you have to say such things? Just die already! You’re nothing but a disgusting sight when

go, seeming as if she wouldn’t be satisfied until she had choked the life out of him.

“Eunice, have you gone mad? Let go of him right now!” Madelyn and Cyrus were desperately trying to drag her away, but their efforts seemed futile against Eunice.
If things continued this way, Derek would surely be choked to death by Eunjce. Madelyn had no choice but to muster all her strength into a swift kick, which sent Etmice flying
Eunice felt a sharp pain in her chest and watched as the medical staff rushed in. They quickly lifted Derek onto a stretcher, and Madelyn, along with others, followed suit.
In the end, she was the only one left in the vast office.
Eunice looked around the office, suddenly seeming to lose her senses. She started yelling wildly, and then, in a fit of rage, she swept all the documents off Derek’s desk onto the floor,
After she turned the office into a mess, Eunice finally stormed out, her eyes full of resentment.
Soon, the ambulance pulled up to the hospital.
Madelyn remembered her father had once fainted from anger. The doctor had specifically advised them not to let him suffer any emotional distress again.
Unexpectedly, Derek had fainted from anger again.
Madelyn was instantly filled with self–reproach, almost on the verge of tears.
Just then, from the end of the hospital corridor, an indescribably handsome man approached Madelyn in a few strides. His tone was calm yet tinged with worry, “How is it?”
As soon as Madelyn turned her head and saw Sebastian, she immediately threw herself into his arms. “Sebastian, it’s all my fault. It’s all my fault! I shouldn’t have upset my father.”
Sebastian simply couldn’t bear to see Madelyn shed tears. He quickly patted her back to soothe her, coaxing, “It’s all right. This isn’t your fault. Don’t worry; Dad will definitely be fine.”
But I
I’m so scared,” Madelyn said forlornly before burying herself into Sebastian’s embrace like a child.
“Don’t be scared. I’m here.” Sebastian had no choice but to continue comforting her.
Cyrus, who stood off to the side, found the scene rather intriguing
Unexpectedly, the decisive and fiery Madelyn, who was always full of energy and spirit, could also become as gentle as a little lamb in front of a man.
Everyone has their match, I see!
Suddenly, the door to the emergency room swung open.
A doctor emerged, and Madelyn immediately rushed over to ask, “Doctor, how’s my father? Is he okay? Is his life in danger?”
Seeing her worried expression, the doctor offered a reassuring smile. “Don’t worry,” he said, “though the
