Mikayla couldn't help but marvel at Carlos' excessive spending and romanticism that day. She let him hold her hand; his warm, big hands tightly enveloped hers. Walking on the luxurious carpet, she felt her heart race.
Along the way, crystal frames were placed above crystal pillars similar to the ones at the wedding venue. Some were big, and some small. Under the enchanting light, they looked so bright and clear. Then, she noticed photos of her from childhood to adulthood within the frames, every stage of her life from a newborn to the wedding photos with him.
Mikayla was astonished because Carlos would surprise her every time.
She rarely had time to look through her old photos, but since Carlos displayed them, she could reminisce about her past. It was a meaningful gesture.
"Where did you get these photos?" Mikayla asked, looking up at him.
"Garrett and Sylvia." Carlos was very proud, and their names came out of his mouth smoothly.
'Oh, yeah! We're married, so my parents are also his,' she remembered.
"What's this photo?" Mikayla asked, pointing to one of the photos. She should be 12 or 13, wearing a school uniform and sitting in the library. It was obviously a candid photograph.
"I took it when I couldn't help myself and went to see you with Kashton." Carlos didn't deny it.
Mikayla was speechless and thought, 'So Carlos has such a side to him too.'
The photos lined the way to the mansion's living room, and hanging on the wall was an enlarged picture of him kneeling on one knee with flowers in his hands, while she stood before the window. It was monochrome, making it look nostalgic and charming.
"Are you happy?" Carlos asked affectionately.
Mikayla didn't know whether he was asking about the decorations along the way or the mansion's layout.
The style of the house was Epean, not complex, every ornament was delicate and cozy-looking. Either way, she was satisfied.
"I like it very much!" Mikayla smiled. Her likes and dislikes were distinct. She wouldn't force herself to like something she didn't.
"What about me?" Carlos met her gaze and asked, raising his eyebrows, his meaning obvious.
It felt as if only the two of them were in the mansion. Yet, he asked a question like that.
They stood very close to each other. Mikayla suddenly wrapped her arms around his waist and leaned her face on his strong chest. Her nose was filled with his unique scent. "I like you. I like you very much!"
Mikayla felt her ears burning, but she never liked hiding her feelings, just as she could resolutely leave Jaxon before.
Hearing Mikayla's confession, Carlos smiled more contentedly.
"I like you, too! So, so much! Even I don't know how much I like you." His magnetic voice sounded.
It took them a long time to separate.
"Let me show you upstairs," Carlos said.
"What's this?" she asked. Only then did Mikayla notice the white flower arrangements and white candles around.
"Oh, this! It's Kashton's father, Mr. Caldwell's doing. He's superstitious. Looking at our birth sign, he said we must keep everything white to keep it traditional so that it's easier for you to..." Carlos paused for a while and continued, "Get pregnant!"
