Chapter 30
ALPHA LEO’S POV
Being this close to Rita was everything. She stood me up. Yes, but this fire that burned whenever I was close to her was just out of control.
And how Fang always became wild at just the scent of this she-wolf made everything worse.
“I have answered that question before,” Rita said and then she shifted her gaze. She was trying to avoid looking straight at me. She was definitely hiding something.
“And I think you’re lying.”
I felt her stiffening under me.
I was right and I hated to see her this way more than anything in the world. My hand danced around her cheeks.
Take her, Fang growled immediately. “I want her.”
Every other time, I was able to ignore Fang, but this time around, I wanted to have her as much as he did. My eyes met hers. I could see the fear in her eyes. And no, she was not scared of me. She was scared of the unknown. I knew that her experience with Sebastian was holding her back.
I wanted to take that fear away and make her scream my name.
“Alpha Leo.” She sounded breathless.
“Leo. Call me Leo.”
I pressed my lips to her neck and kissed her neck softly and then I raised my head up to look at her face. “We’re mates and that makes us equals. You should always call me by my name. I want us to be one.” I kissed her again. This time around, on her right shoulder.
“I want you to tell me everything happening in your life and me, mine.” I kissed her chin. “We are a soul in two bodies. We should act that way.”
What happened next was something I least expected. I felt a sharp pain on my head and then it disappeared in split seconds. I looked up at Rita, shock written all over my face.
She hit me on the head and immediately shifted backward and away from me. “Next time you try to breach our contract, I will have to terminate it,” She said.
“Is that what you think our relationship is? A contract?”
“If it isn’t a contract, what is it?”
I felt a lump in my throat and a knot in my stomach. I wanted to tell her that we were second chance mates and that I loved her so much that I could die and even give up my pack for her, but I pursed my lips and looked away.
Without answering her question or saying anything to her, I left the room and Fang began to protest. He kicked, jumped and threw a fit, but I ignored him.
Still, I wondered if I could bear this for too long. The line of my patience was almost crossed and when the line was finally crossed, I knew I wouldn’t hold back any longer.
I did not go back to the room till the next morning and when I went back, I kissed Rita on the forehead while she was still asleep before I left the room. She was all I could think of the previous night, so I decided to give her more chances.

Rita kept to herself most of the time, so it was hard to tell if she was going through a lot or not. The least I could do was to offer as much support as I could.
I mind–linked a guard and asked him to get me flowers as soon as possible before I left the room for an important meeting.
By the time I got to my throne room, everyone was there already. Even my brother and his son, Sebastian. This usually happens when the pack is about to go into a big trade.
I frowned when I saw Sebastian, but I could not stop him from being here.
Even if I had beaten my brother in the duel to become Alpha, he still had an important role to play in the decision making of situations like this and he liked to carry his son along.
The guard I had asked to get me flowers mind–linked me back that he had gotten them and I asked him to bring me the flowers, so I could see what they looked like.
Soon the guard walked in with a large bouquet of velvety, red roses. “What do you think?” I asked everyone in the room, pointing to the z flowers. “It is for the Luna.”
“It is perfect,” my Delta said and everyone nodded in agreement.
I took in a deep breath, satisfied at the response. Hopefully, my flowers will cheer Rita up. “Take it to the Luna,” I ordered and the guard took the flowers away.
The meeting continued, but it was interrupted again by the same guard. I was expecting to see him empty handed, but he brought back the flowers that were meant for Rita.
“Why haven’t you given Rita her flowers?” I grunted and he quickly brought his eyes down before replying to me.
“I tried mind–linking you to tell you this, but I could not.”
“I blocked you out. What did you want to tell me?”
“The Luna rejected your flowers, my Alpha.”
Murmurs broke up amongst the wolves in the room and I could have sworn that I saw Sebastian smirk. I clenched my fists. “And why would she do that?” I snarled. “Did she not like her flowers?”
“I have no idea, my Alpha,” the guard responded.
“Leave,” I ordered and he left immediately.
“Alpha Leo, is all not well with you and the Luna? Isn’t it too early to have issues?” One of the pack elders asked. He was the same elder that had called Rita a slut the day I introduced her to the elders as my Luna to be.
I bared my teeth at him and he quickly looked away.
“What she did was very disrespectful,” Fenris, my brother, said spitefully.
I groaned.
“You must do something. If you let this slide, our women might be tempted to start disrespecting us like the way the Luna disrespected you. You can’t do that to us,” Fenris added and everyone murmured words of agreement.
I relaxed on my throne, thinking of a way to calm down the situation. I was angry with Rita, but the last thing I wanted was Luna and mate. “You’re not the one to tell me how to treat my Luna. Don’t come to for the others to look down on my the conclusion that she disrespected me. Something must be wrong somewhere.”
