Chapter 31 

RITA’S POV 

I sat by the bay window, sulking. 

I just rejected Alpha Leo’s flowers because of that evil wolf called Sebastian. Earlier today he texted me and warned me against accepting any flowers from Alpha Leo. 

“This is just too much,” I muttered to myself as I leaned my head on the window. 

“Then tell your mate everything. The strange voice in my head said again. It sounded like Dakota and it felt real. 

‘Dakota?‘ 

I got no response. Was it really Dakota or was it just in my head? If it was Dakota, why was she playing with me like this and what did she mean by my mate. 

Was she referring to Alpha Leo? But Alpha Leo was only a chosen mate. The only way she can recognize him as my mate when she is in deep sleep was if he was my second chance mate 

I laughed at the thought. 

That can never be true. I doubt if the moon goddess would deem me good enough to get an Alpha as a second chance mate or to even get a second chance mate at all. 

There was a knock on the door and I rushed to open the door, hoping to see Alpha Leo, but to my surprise and dismay, it was Sebastian. 

“What are you doing here?” I snarled and without saying anything, he pushed me from the way, walked into the room and closed the door behind him. 

“Sebastian, are you crazy?” I lashed out and he glared at me. 

“If you attract attention, I’ll have no choice but to show everybody your video.” 

“You need to see a shrink,” I hissed and he smirked. 

I’d pass. I like seeing you suffer for your sins,” He said and I scoffed. 

“You rejected me. Because of you, my wolf had been asleep for a long time now. What else do you want from me?” 

“I don’t want you to move on from what we used to have,” Sebastian said with a grin and I wanted to wipe that stupid grin out of his face. 

“If that is the case, you would never have cheated on me. You treated me like garbage.” 

“I have every right to treat you the way I want to.” He grabbed my jaw and brought my face close to his. “What do you expect me to do? Treat you like the princess that you’re not. Or because you’re Luna now, you think you deserve to be treated like a princess. If that is what you think, you thought wrong. You’re a nobody. I have every right to use you whenever I want. Or, has the way my Uncle fed you with too much deceit.” 

He cackled, before he continued. “Has that gotten into your head? Today, he got you a bouquet of flowers, right? Have you forgotten the one I gave you? How did I end up treating you?” 

My knees weakened. My eyes were teary too. He was right. It ended in tears for me at the end. I promised myself never to 

wolf again. Not even Alpha Leo or who the moon goddess would give me as a second chance mate if she ever does.

She made a mistake the first time. What was the guarantee that she would not do so a second time? 

“What are you doing here? Just tell me what you want?”

Sebastian pricked my flesh with his fingers till my skin turned red. “I’m trying to be nice, but you keep on pissing me off.” 

“Just tell me what you want.” I managed to say. I was trying hard to stop myself from crying out loud. 

Sebastian took his hand away from my face. I bent over and held my thighs. Tears dropped from my eyes to the ground. 

Sebastian crouched before me and brought his hands to hold my face. I turned away from him, but he grabbed my face anyway and shifted it so he could look me in the eye. He smiled and began to caress my face. “Why are you crying so much? I honestly did not mean to make you cry this much.” 

“Sebastian, what do you want?” I growled. 

He straightened his spine, standing up straight before answering my question. “I want us to go on another date. The date will take place tomorrow. Before the end of today, I will send you the location and time of our date. This time around, I want us to do it the right way.” 

I laughed bitterly and stood up straight just so I could look at his face. “You want me to go on a date with you? You almost killed me the last time, remember? If my mate had not arrived on time, I would have been dead by now.” 

“What mate?” He snarled. “I am your first and only mate.” 

“You belong in my past,” I snarled back and bared his teeth. 

“Whether or not you like it, we are going on a date.” 

“If you want to kill me, just do so already. Stop trying to torment me.” 

He touched my face and I slapped his hand away. His skin on mine irked me more than anything in the world. 

“We won’t be having the date in our usual tower. I booked a reservation in the pack’s most luxurious restaurant.” 

My mouth hung open. Did I just hear him correctly? “You did what?” I scoffed. “Right. I, the new Luna of Noctis Umbra Pack, want to be seen with my ex–mate in a luxurious restaurant. That’s similar to having my nudes on the internet.” 

Sebastian had an evil smirk on his face. “Trust me it isn’t. You would get a few insults here and there but a leaked nude of

I gulped and shifted my gaze from him. “I am not still doing it.” 

“No one will know you’re the one with me. At the restaurant, as the nephew of the Alpha, I have a VVIP lounge reserved specially for me. We would have a private date with me.”

Throughout that day, I did not see Alpha Leo until it was time to sleep. When he walked into the room, he ignored me and only spoke to me when he climbed the couch to sleep. 

“Why did you reject my flowers?” That was the question he asked me. 

“In the contract I signed, there was no clause stating that I had to accept flowers.” My heart ached immediately the words left my mouth. Alphas were rumored to be heartless, but I knew this one was not. And, I could not help but feel that I was hurting the heart he had.

“Rita-” he called out, then his voice trailed off. I could sense the pain in his voice. 

“I–I was just saying. Our union is just a contract, right?” 

He said nothing in response to me. After hours of tossing and turning on my bed, I finally went to sleep. 

The next morning, as usual, he was gone when I woke up. 

My mood got totally ruined when Sebastian messaged me to remind me of our ‘date‘. I needed help urgently, but who was I going to turn to? 

Seeing that the only choice I had was to let Sebastian leak my nudes, I quickly dressed up for the date. I felt like a cheating partner, but again this was my safest choice, plus what the Alpha and I had was nothing but a contract. 

I drew in a deep breath when I finally reached the restaurant. 

Like Sebastian told me, he had a VVIP lounge and we were the only ones there, but this did not make me feel better. Not even one bit. 

“Your lounge is as isolated as the Paragon tower. What if you try to kill me like 

you did the last time?” 

“I am crazy, but not foolish. There are no cameras here but there are tons of them outside this place. If I kill you here, it will be hard to dispose of your body, unlike if I had killed you back at that tower.” 

The way Sebastian sounded casual 

while explaining himself gave me the chills. “Now that I’m here, what do you want?” 

“You’re putting on something nice this time,” He said, ignoring my question. 

“Oh! Well that is because someone threatened to get me stoned to death if I do not wear a nice dress,” I said, glaring hard at him and he grinned. 

“Yes, that’s true. I did that.” 

Throughout the date, I made sure I did not eat anything and just like it was in the past, Sebastian did not notice this. He was too busy talking about himself and how he deserved to be with hundreds of she–wolves including me. 

Sebastian and I have had so many dates while we were still together and if I remembered correctly, they were very similar to the one I was having with him now. 

It made me wonder how I did not see how much of a red flag Sebastian was when we were together.

Out of the blues he held my hands and I frowned. Before I pulled away, he took his hands off me and brought them to my cheeks.
