The body suddenly disappeared from on top of me, and Dez’s intimidating growl filled the woods around us. I stood up, seeing Dez’s mouth clamped around the wolf’s neck, then he started shaking his head vigorously back and forth, the wolf was whimpering loudly and then he just stopped. 

Everything seemed to stop, I completely stopped breathing. 

Did Dez just kill it? 

I could feel my heart hammering in my chest, Dez dropped him with a loud thud, he wasn’t moving. 

Dez disappeared and came back in jeans, handing me shirt. I shifted back, and pulled the shirt over my head, and sat down leaning against the tree for support. 

He was dead. 

Dez just killed him. 

I could feel myself struggling to breathe properly. 

Dez just killed him. 

He’s dead. 

These two thoughts seemed to be the only thing I could comprehend. 

It happened so fast, one minute he was very much alive trying to kill me and the next he’s limp on the ground not breathing. 

Dez just killed someone, right in front of me. I could feel hot tears spill down my face as I still struggled to 

breathe through my tight chest and now closing throat. 

“Kendal” I could hear Dez’s deep voice say. He didn’t even give the wolf time to surrender, he didn’t ask him questions, or make him shift, he just killed him without mercy. I wrapped my arms around my legs trying to stop shaking. 

I knew I was likely in shock, I mean my mate just killed someone. Someone just died, like 2 minutes ago. 

Dez just killed someone. 

“Kendal” I could faintly hear Dez repeat until he walked around. I wasn’t sure how I felt about him murdering someone right in front of me. I pressed myself harder into the tree watching him carefully.

He looked down at me, before he cursed and started pacing shoving his fingers in his hair. 

“Are you okay?” he asked me, I wanted to nod, or reply in anyway, but I couldn’t open my mouth. 

“Shit” he cursed leaning down, I moved away from him, 

“I’m not going to hurt you” he muttered putting his hands on my face. 

I could faintly hear fast foots steps getting closer, I looked up at Dez and he didn’t seem concerned about 

them. 

A man appeared a few seconds later, he was in his mid forties, with brown hair and he looked tired but was still wearing a small smile. 

‘What’s wrong?” he asked looking down at me. 

“She’s in shock, she just stopped breathing, she’s not talking, her pulse is low” Dez said motioning to me sounding anxious, the doctor leaned down on one knee in front of me. 

He tilted my head up looking directly in my eyes, and then dug his fingers in my neck checking my pulse, 

hair. I could see his eyes land on my mark and he frowned slightly, before moving my 

“She’s bleeding” he said. 

“Yeah Grey took a go at her” Dez said inspecting my neck as well, he said the name Grey like he had a bad taste in his mouth, as the doctor pulled his hand away, dark red blood was on his fingertips. I looked at his fingers, I couldn’t feel any pain in my neck, I reached up trying to feel around. 

The only thing I seemed to be able to comprehend is that, Dez had just killed someone. 

Someone was dead. This person now had a name. Grey. 

Dez killed him. 

“Take her home, make her rest, if she stops breathing again call me immediately.” Dez nodded, as he left. 

I stared after him. 

“Come on” he said under his breath stepping towards me, I involuntarily moved away from him. He 

frowned.
