Chapter 26
Dez completely avoided saying anything or even hinting what the cause of this was. They talked about it because, they would sometimes go silent, but I knew they were communicating through their pack link. Which seemed completely unfair, even though Dez had marked me, I hadn’t been fully accepted into the
pack, I knew I would be when I marked Dez, which believe would be an extremely long time from now, and until then I had about as much communication privilege as a rogue.
I was getting more frustrated by the second, I stared at the package on his desk, it was slightly opened, but Dez had tucked it back to where it was halfway closed. I was puzzled over what exactly was in there, and why it smelled like blood. It had to be something threatening, or Dez wouldn’t freak out.
I was more curious as to who it was threatening to, mostly because I was the only one assigned guards. I mean yes the pack security had been doubled, but 10 guards seemed a little much. Either the threat was that severe or Dez actually was a crazy over protective alpha.
I also studied my guards, trying to decide the weakest link, the one I could try to push far enough into giving me information. I kept coming back to the smallest. He was only about 6,1, he was lanky, and skinny, he didn’t lack muscle he was very much in shape he just lacked bulk like the rest of them. His ash blonde hair was messy and long, flipped in his brown eyes. He was nervous, I knew it was Dez who was making him nervous by his body language.
He was jittery, and fidgeting casting wearisome glances at Dez. I came to the conclusion he had never
actually been in the same room as Dez. Dez was quite intimidating.
In fact Dez was the most intimidating person I’d ever met, power and dominance rolled off him in waves. You could almost smell it on him. Not to mention the fact that he was twice the size of a normal alpha. Plus he was an alpha.
Alphas in general are not an ounce short of scary, but Dez was on a whole other level, I was positive no one else in the world could quite even begin to understand or get on. I seemed to be the only person in the world who was blessed with comfort in his presence. Even Michael seemed to be uncomfortable.
I studied the man, he seemed younger than the others too, he looked a few years older than me. Maybe in his mid–twenties, a sudden question hit me..
How old was Dez? I frowned and looked over at him speaking quietly with Michael, he looked young, maybe also in his mid–twenties. His mental age threw me off, he seemed older maybe 80ish? I knew that sounds crazy, but werewolves aged so much slower, we never aged unless we stopped shifting for a longer period of time or permanently.
As if he sensed my gaze on him, he turned his head and glanced at me in mid–sentence. Unlike me he didn’t seem fazed at all by me, he kept talking looking back at Michael. But his small glance had sent my heart into a hammering frenzy and I was trying to breathe correctly. Why does he do this to me?

Chapter 20
I studied Dez, admiring his features, I finally pulled my attention from him back to the weakest link. He was already looking at me, I caught his brown eyes, trying to decide the easiest way to interrogate him. He stared back at me as I studied him, he seemed to be doing the same to me.
He finally cleared his throat and looked away, and I turned my attention back to Dez who was staring at me his eyes burning holes in my face. He looked angry, his jaw was clenched making his strong jaw line somehow even more noticeable.
Had I missed something? Did some argument or something break out while I wasn’t paying attention? I gave him a curious look, but his anger seemed to be directed towards me. He turned his attention back to Michael.
I sighed pulled my legs up, curling into a ball sliding down into the chair. I closed my eyes hoping I could get a small nap in while he was busy. I took a short cat nap, and woke up with a small blanket on me, I sat up, yawning seeing only 3 of my guards still here, and Michael sitting on the back of the couch and Dez across from him sitting on the table.
“Dez” I said, he immediately stopped talking, his head snapping in my direction.
