After all these years, Adler thought Jenna had let it go. But one casual mention from James, and she completely lost her composure. That incident had always haunted her.
Looking at Adler, Jenna's mind drifted back to her childhood. "Grandfather always believed in tough love, you know? Like an old wolf, wanting his kids to fend for themselves. When I first came back, he avoided me on purpose, just to see if I could make it on my own. Honestly, if it wasn't for your help, I wouldn't have been able to make Freddie pay."
"No matter what happens, I'm here for you," Adler assured her. "Unconditionally. Whether it's making Freddie pay or fixing the sky if you somehow managed to punch a hole in it."
Jenna couldn't help but laugh. "Who do you think you are? Colby? You're just a spoiled rich kid. You can't take those kinds of risks for me. Colby was raised among wolves; he's fearless. But you? You grew up in comfort, only good at sweet-talking."
"These aren't just sweet words," Adler's voice deepened. "Jenna, even if I wasn't raised among wolves, I’d still risk my life to protect the woman I love, just like Colby."
"Pfft, nonsense!" Jenna frowned and poked Adler's forehead. "You're always talking big. Risk your life? Don't be ridiculous."
Just as Jenna was about to scold him like usual, Adler grasped her hand with a bittersweet smile. "Jenna, I'm not a kid anymore."

Enjoying the story, to much victimising Sophie, they could at least try to target others. Hope at some point Sophie comes clean and forgives James and explain her view of loving the boy James was. Just so they both learn and move on. Really needs to be some consequences for the instigators instead of being let go. Sandy needs to see Vanessa is using her as a cover, and Sandy needs to wake up to herself, or be held responsible by her father for alienating the people she was supposed to make contact with. Hope the reporter brother is keeping an eye on what Vanessa and Odie are up to, and that he has he’s own justice in store. Hope he becomes like Reese a good partner. Hope James lives and finds he’s HEA. Need to put Nicole in prison , no release and several lifetimes , with all the evidence on the crimes she’s committed just to get her out of the way guilt free. More about what’s up with Gordon....
