"Summerfield is Mr. Odie's domain, and we should definitely toast to him. Otherwise, we wouldn't have such a fantastic venue for our wedding, right?" Sophie glanced sideways at Colby, who didn't hesitate. Instead, he obediently picked up the wine glass from the table and clinked it against Odie's.
Seeing Colby tilt his head back to drink, Odie followed suit, downing his glass in one go. Sophie just smiled at the sight. She scanned the main table but couldn't spot Gordon.
"Jenna, where's Mr. Gordon?" Sophie asked quietly, lowering her voice. Jenna looked around but also couldn't find Gordon. "He disappeared after he got here. No idea where he went. Maybe he had to leave early?"
Angelo piped up, "To give such an expensive gift and leave without even having a sip of the celebration wine, does Mr. Gordon have a screw loose?" Jenna kicked Angelo, saying, "Knock it off! If the Aldridge family heard you, they'd flatten you!"
"I'll be flattened by you before they even get a chance!" Angelo muttered.
Sophie said, "It's fine, Mr. Gordon is always busy, and he hasn't left Devonport in years. I'm already grateful he could come in person." She had reserved a special seat for Gordon at the main table. Seeing it empty, she felt a bit disappointed. After all, Gordon was more than just a business partner to her. She didn't dare to hope for too much, but in her heart, she saw him as more than a partner.
"Alright, alright! Time for more toasts! Don't forget mine!" Adler was eager for another drink, while Angelo just wanted to change out of his dirty clothes.

Enjoying the story, to much victimising Sophie, they could at least try to target others. Hope at some point Sophie comes clean and forgives James and explain her view of loving the boy James was. Just so they both learn and move on. Really needs to be some consequences for the instigators instead of being let go. Sandy needs to see Vanessa is using her as a cover, and Sandy needs to wake up to herself, or be held responsible by her father for alienating the people she was supposed to make contact with. Hope the reporter brother is keeping an eye on what Vanessa and Odie are up to, and that he has he’s own justice in store. Hope he becomes like Reese a good partner. Hope James lives and finds he’s HEA. Need to put Nicole in prison , no release and several lifetimes , with all the evidence on the crimes she’s committed just to get her out of the way guilt free. More about what’s up with Gordon....
