James paused, took a breath, and said, "I'm not around to watch over Sophie. Can you keep an eye on Timothy for me?"
"Sure! No problem!"
"Sophie's sharp, but she trusts people too easily and isn't ruthless enough. She's going to get burned sooner or later."
"Not ruthless enough? Where'd you get that idea?"
Angelo had been with Sophie for quite a while, and everyone always said Colby was the cutthroat one. Yet, he thought Colby wasn't half as fierce as his own wife!
Of course, Colby was ruthless to others.
Sophie was ruthless to herself.
But if a woman who's already so hard on herself became even more ruthless, wouldn't that be terrifying?
James fell silent for a moment before speaking again. "With Colby by her side, I'm not too worried. Devonport's about to get chaotic; Caelum made the right call keeping you overseas. If you want to come back, take your sister and leave as soon as possible."
"Um, just curious, when you say 'chaotic'... how bad are we talking?"
"Bloodshed."
The next day, inside the Regent Hotel.
Odie straightened his suit. "How do I look? Sharp enough?"
He turned to Jonah, who nodded. "Very sharp."
"Good."
"Make sure to bring extra people with you later." Odie's tone was calm. "It's my succession ceremony today, and I don't want it feeling like a ghost town."
"Yes, boss."
Just then, noise erupted from outside the door.

Enjoying the story, to much victimising Sophie, they could at least try to target others. Hope at some point Sophie comes clean and forgives James and explain her view of loving the boy James was. Just so they both learn and move on. Really needs to be some consequences for the instigators instead of being let go. Sandy needs to see Vanessa is using her as a cover, and Sandy needs to wake up to herself, or be held responsible by her father for alienating the people she was supposed to make contact with. Hope the reporter brother is keeping an eye on what Vanessa and Odie are up to, and that he has he’s own justice in store. Hope he becomes like Reese a good partner. Hope James lives and finds he’s HEA. Need to put Nicole in prison , no release and several lifetimes , with all the evidence on the crimes she’s committed just to get her out of the way guilt free. More about what’s up with Gordon....
