"Of course, it's because of this piece of land. What's up with you? Is there something wrong with it?"
"It's not the land that's the problem; it's that you're relying on it too much."
Colby had kept quiet about this before, mainly because the land had indeed brought in a nice profit, and secondly, the money was already sufficient. But if they were going to confront the mastermind behind everything, relying just on this land wouldn't cut it.
"I get what you're saying," Sophie replied. "If it was only about being the head of S Corporation, I wouldn't even be qualified to meet the person pulling the strings."
"Right now, every move we make is under their control. If we want to force them out, we need to go all out."
Colby handed Sophie a document. "The old man left this for you."
"For me?" Sophie was stunned. She took the document envelope and opened it to find a share transfer agreement, a land transfer agreement, and a prepared will.
"This... is this the Costello Corporation's land?"
"Yeah," Colby said, his tone flat. "The old man must've had a feeling something bad was coming, so he prepared these documents and the will in advance. Now, all the operations of the Costello family are in your hands. But that means your burden will also double."
"You should've given this to me yesterday."
"I know you're like an eagle that can soar high, but I selfishly wanted to carry all these burdens myself. Sophie, I hate seeing you so exhausted."

Enjoying the story, to much victimising Sophie, they could at least try to target others. Hope at some point Sophie comes clean and forgives James and explain her view of loving the boy James was. Just so they both learn and move on. Really needs to be some consequences for the instigators instead of being let go. Sandy needs to see Vanessa is using her as a cover, and Sandy needs to wake up to herself, or be held responsible by her father for alienating the people she was supposed to make contact with. Hope the reporter brother is keeping an eye on what Vanessa and Odie are up to, and that he has he’s own justice in store. Hope he becomes like Reese a good partner. Hope James lives and finds he’s HEA. Need to put Nicole in prison , no release and several lifetimes , with all the evidence on the crimes she’s committed just to get her out of the way guilt free. More about what’s up with Gordon....
