"Alright."
Sophie got up from the bed.
Out of nowhere, James said, "Hand me your ring."
Sophie glanced down at the ring in her hand. Without questioning him, she slipped it off and placed it in James's hand.
James assured, "I'll return it to you sooner or later."
Sophie didn't say anything more. She just turned and walked out of the bedroom.
Deep down, she knew.
James had long since settled his debts with her.
The night was thick and dark.
James sat in Sophie's bedroom, staring at the dim table lamp.
In that moment, memories started playing back like a film reel to the night before.
He had arranged to meet Claire here first thing in the morning.
As soon as Sophie left, Claire showed up just as planned.
Walking in and seeing the empty room, Claire frowned, "Why did you ask me to come here?"
Looking at Claire's face, eerily similar to Sophie's, James felt a wave of revulsion.
No one could replace Sophie, and surely no one deserved to wear that face.
"You've always wanted to step into Sophie's shoes, haven't you? Well, here's your shot."
James tossed a set of clothes he'd prepared in advance in front of Claire, saying, "Dress as her, you know how to pull off the Sophie look."
"What... What are you planning?"
Claire hesitated, staring at James, trying to grasp his intentions.
James said, "I've killed Sophie. From today, you're her."
Hearing this, Claire's face lit up, "Are you for real?"

Enjoying the story, to much victimising Sophie, they could at least try to target others. Hope at some point Sophie comes clean and forgives James and explain her view of loving the boy James was. Just so they both learn and move on. Really needs to be some consequences for the instigators instead of being let go. Sandy needs to see Vanessa is using her as a cover, and Sandy needs to wake up to herself, or be held responsible by her father for alienating the people she was supposed to make contact with. Hope the reporter brother is keeping an eye on what Vanessa and Odie are up to, and that he has he’s own justice in store. Hope he becomes like Reese a good partner. Hope James lives and finds he’s HEA. Need to put Nicole in prison , no release and several lifetimes , with all the evidence on the crimes she’s committed just to get her out of the way guilt free. More about what’s up with Gordon....
