Revenge is Best Served After Reborn (James) novel Chapter 1422

Sophie stole a glance at Colby and asked, "What's up? You seem a bit on edge."

"Nothing," Colby replied, eyes fixed on the road.

After a pause, Colby broke the silence, "Is Griffin coming too?"

"Maybe. Griffin is Elodie's bodyguard, so it's pretty normal for him to tag along, right?"

"Then I'm coming too."

Hearing this, Sophie put her phone down, raised an eyebrow, and teased, "You're not worried Griffin's gonna spill the beans about your childhood mishaps, are you?"

"I have no embarrassing stories."

"Right, you still haven't shared much about your childhood. All I know is you went overseas and became Mr. Elwood's go-to guy, working with Odie and Griffin. But what about before that? You never mention those days."

Suddenly, Colby braked hard, almost causing Sophie to knock her head, but he quickly reached out, shielding her forehead just in time.

Sophie's heart skipped a beat, and as she looked up, she caught the worry etched on Colby's face.

"You okay? Let me check."

Colby gently examined Sophie's forehead, but she shook her head, "I'm fine. That cat darting onto the road was just unlucky timing."

"As long as you're alright."

Colby gave Sophie's head a gentle pat and said, "Let's keep going."

As night settled in, the living room was softly lit by a single dim lamp. Colby lounged on the couch, the cigarette in the ashtray long extinguished.
