The members of The Silent Shadows instantly vanished into the mist, leaving only the man who had been leading them to remove his mask.
James frowned.
This was all he could do now.
Meanwhile, Sophie and Colby were retreating towards the outside of the valley.
During their conversation with that man, Sophie had noticed something was off with his leg, and the man had also tapped his own leg lightly with his fingers, as if hinting at something.
So, Sophie was even more convinced the man they had been talking to was James.
James had given them a false proposition.
First, Jenna was inside.
Second, as long as they could find Jenna, the boss would meet with them.
Third, once terms were agreed upon, the boss would let them leave.
These points seemed reasonable, but they made no sense at all.
They had always been the passive party, with the active party being the boss of The Silent Shadows. They had done so much just to actively meet with the boss. If the boss truly wanted to meet them, there was no need to go through the trouble of taking Jenna.
Even if the boss had taken Jenna, it was surely to exchange Jenna for the gemstone they had.
How could there possibly be negotiations?
If The Silent Shadows truly had taken Jenna, then they currently had no leverage to negotiate with The Silent Shadows.
Without any leverage to negotiate, how could the boss possibly let them leave?

Enjoying the story, to much victimising Sophie, they could at least try to target others. Hope at some point Sophie comes clean and forgives James and explain her view of loving the boy James was. Just so they both learn and move on. Really needs to be some consequences for the instigators instead of being let go. Sandy needs to see Vanessa is using her as a cover, and Sandy needs to wake up to herself, or be held responsible by her father for alienating the people she was supposed to make contact with. Hope the reporter brother is keeping an eye on what Vanessa and Odie are up to, and that he has he’s own justice in store. Hope he becomes like Reese a good partner. Hope James lives and finds he’s HEA. Need to put Nicole in prison , no release and several lifetimes , with all the evidence on the crimes she’s committed just to get her out of the way guilt free. More about what’s up with Gordon....
