Gordon slightly raised his hand, and the maid beside him promptly cleared the full plate in front of Sophie, replacing it with a clean one.
"Ms. Sophie, please make yourself at home."
Gordon took his seat at the head of the table.
Sophie felt a bit restrained, and the maid beside her began to serve her food.
With Gordon present, the atmosphere suddenly turned tense, and even Harold kept silent.
Sophie felt like she was on pins and needles throughout the meal. How could someone make dining such a serious affair?
Suddenly, Gordon put down his fork and said, "I have matters to attend to. Ms. Sophie, my brother can take you for a stroll in the garden later to clear your mind."
Sophie nodded her head, "Thank you for your hospitality, Mr. Gordon."
"Don't worry, I'll take good care of Sophie. She won’t get lost."
Gordon didn’t respond, and his bodyguard wheeled him towards the elevator that led upstairs.
Once Gordon had left, Sophie finally breathed a sigh of relief. While Gordon was there, she could hardly taste her food, as if she were chewing on wax.
"My brother is a very gentle person. You don’t need to be so afraid."
Gentle?
Sophie felt that Gordon had an aura of 'keep your distance.' Ever since he had thrown that socialite down the stairs during the Aldridge family’s jewelry gala, she had vowed to steer clear of him.

Enjoying the story, to much victimising Sophie, they could at least try to target others. Hope at some point Sophie comes clean and forgives James and explain her view of loving the boy James was. Just so they both learn and move on. Really needs to be some consequences for the instigators instead of being let go. Sandy needs to see Vanessa is using her as a cover, and Sandy needs to wake up to herself, or be held responsible by her father for alienating the people she was supposed to make contact with. Hope the reporter brother is keeping an eye on what Vanessa and Odie are up to, and that he has he’s own justice in store. Hope he becomes like Reese a good partner. Hope James lives and finds he’s HEA. Need to put Nicole in prison , no release and several lifetimes , with all the evidence on the crimes she’s committed just to get her out of the way guilt free. More about what’s up with Gordon....
