Revenge is Best Served After Reborn (James) novel Chapter 1744

Seeing his wife get up, Colby got to his feet too, gently supporting Sophie's arm. "Take it easy, I'll help you upstairs," he murmured warmly.

Nearby, little Danny was on the brink of sleep. But when he saw the relentless reading machine—finally—packing up to leave, his eyes sparkled with relief. Even at his tender age, you could see gratitude shining through.

Upstairs, William took a look at the medical gear Harold had set up for Sophie and Jenna.

"Wow, this setup is top-notch. Isn't this better than some downtown hospitals?"

Those shiny, expensive machines were hard to resist. William felt an itch to fiddle with them. Ah, the perks of having money.

Harold cut in, "Stop gawking at the machines and check on Sophie's baby first."

"Oh, right!"

William stepped up, pulling out his stethoscope. After a quick listen, he announced, "I'll do an ultrasound."

Sophie was way more familiar with this routine than William was.

After the check-up, William squinted at the ultrasound image, nodding like he knew what he was doing. "All looks good, really healthy!"

"…"

Sophie watched him with a hint of skepticism. He didn’t exactly radiate confidence like an obstetrician should.

"Are you sure you know what you're looking at?"

"Of course!"

"But you're holding it upside down."

"…"

William coughed, trying to play it cool. "You don’t get it, my skills are so top-tier, I can read it upside down."

Harold, leaning against the doorframe, saw William fumbling and decided to step in, "Alright, as long as the baby's fine. It's almost 4:30; Sophie should go for a walk."

With that, Harold grabbed the ultrasound from William. "Come on, I'll show you to your room."
