Fiona could barely keep up with Alec's steady pace.
"Keep your back straight, and stride out," Alec instructed, taking his time as usual.
Fiona shot him a sidelong glare. She managed only a few steps before she was gasping for air.
A group of boys running alongside her shouted, "Come on, Fiona! You're almost there!"
"Almost there" still meant there were seven hundred meters left, and Fiona felt utterly defeated. She hated running—absolutely despised it.
The gym teacher looked on, scratching his head awkwardly. What could he do? Her mom was on the school board!
Seeing Fiona's pace slow to a crawl, Alec suddenly picked her up and slung her over his shoulder.
"Ah! Alec! Put me down! Put me down!" she shrieked.
Alec, unfazed, carried Fiona effortlessly, covering over a hundred meters in no time.
The girls nearby were stunned. One couldn't help but ask, "Teacher... isn't this cheating?"
The gym teacher quickly averted his gaze, pretending to be busy, muttering to himself, "Her mom's on the board, her mom's on the board..."
"Ouch!"
After the 800 meters, Alec gently tossed Fiona onto a thick mat.
"You didn’t have to do that. The teacher wouldn't have cared," Fiona said, rubbing her sore backside.

Enjoying the story, to much victimising Sophie, they could at least try to target others. Hope at some point Sophie comes clean and forgives James and explain her view of loving the boy James was. Just so they both learn and move on. Really needs to be some consequences for the instigators instead of being let go. Sandy needs to see Vanessa is using her as a cover, and Sandy needs to wake up to herself, or be held responsible by her father for alienating the people she was supposed to make contact with. Hope the reporter brother is keeping an eye on what Vanessa and Odie are up to, and that he has he’s own justice in store. Hope he becomes like Reese a good partner. Hope James lives and finds he’s HEA. Need to put Nicole in prison , no release and several lifetimes , with all the evidence on the crimes she’s committed just to get her out of the way guilt free. More about what’s up with Gordon....
