Isaac turned around, surprised to see Fiona awake, sitting on the couch, and watching him with a piercing gaze.
That look was too familiar. Twenty years ago, Sophie had looked at him and his mother just like that.
The memory stirred up a wave of bitterness inside him.
"When did you wake up?" he asked.
"I never really slept," Fiona replied, her eyes steady on Isaac.
From a young age, she had been trained to sense danger, far more acutely than most. The moment she walked into the office, she was on high alert. That ether? She hadn’t breathed it in at all, so fainting was out of the question.
"No way! How could you suspect me?"
Isaac had spent three careful years at Arcadia High School, crafting his persona as a chemistry teacher, with hardly anyone catching on. During this time, Fiona had never once doubted him.
"Mr. Deston, why did you kidnap me?" Fiona asked, a hint of doubt in her voice. "You’ve got nothing to gain, and my godfather will find me soon enough. You’re the one in danger. I’d suggest you think it over and let me go before they catch up to you."

Enjoying the story, to much victimising Sophie, they could at least try to target others. Hope at some point Sophie comes clean and forgives James and explain her view of loving the boy James was. Just so they both learn and move on. Really needs to be some consequences for the instigators instead of being let go. Sandy needs to see Vanessa is using her as a cover, and Sandy needs to wake up to herself, or be held responsible by her father for alienating the people she was supposed to make contact with. Hope the reporter brother is keeping an eye on what Vanessa and Odie are up to, and that he has he’s own justice in store. Hope he becomes like Reese a good partner. Hope James lives and finds he’s HEA. Need to put Nicole in prison , no release and several lifetimes , with all the evidence on the crimes she’s committed just to get her out of the way guilt free.
