Restless sleep had turned into a bit of a routine. Maybe it was the comforting familiarity of the presence beside her. But this time, Sophie slept like a baby, not a toss or turn in sight.
Late into the night, Gordon wrapped up his work. The room was gently lit by a lone bedside lamp. He slid off his gold-rimmed glasses and rubbed his tired brow. Sophie, again, had kicked off the blanket. With a sigh, Gordon got up, walked over, and tucked her back in. Just as he was about to step away, Sophie reached out and clung to his arm, turning sweetly in her sleep, as if lost in a beautiful dream. She snuggled closer, and Gordon chuckled softly, letting her hold on.
Nearby, a long, plush teddy bear pillow rested next to her. It was a bit worn and faded with time, but it held memories. He’d given it to Sophie when she was ten. Back then, she always wanted him to stay by her side at night, holding his arm as she fell asleep. To ease her, he gifted her the teddy bear pillow. The day she went back to the Russell family’s home, she cried her heart out, and he didn’t even take her back himself. Sometimes, being too dependent isn't great. He couldn’t promise he’d always be there for her, but maybe the teddy bear could.
The next morning, sunlight streamed through the window, gently waking Sophie. She had a slight headache but felt like she'd slept really well. It was as if someone had sat by her side all night. Looking down at the teddy bear pillow she was hugging, she asked, “Was it you keeping me company last night?” The teddy’s adorable face made her hug it again.
She recalled seeing her brother at the club last night. What happened after that? Sophie felt a bit glum. Her brother had always been against her drinking. He must’ve been upset last night. Just then, Sophie noticed a glass of milk and some hangover pills on the table. Her spirits lifted as she grabbed the pills, bouncing out of bed.
Outside, Rick was just about to knock with breakfast in hand when Sophie swung the door open.
“Ms. Sophie?”

why do you keep delaying updates:(...
please post new chapters.. why are they delayed...
Awaiting new chapters plzzz...
when will new chapters release??...
Enjoying the story, to much victimising Sophie, they could at least try to target others. Hope at some point Sophie comes clean and forgives James and explain her view of loving the boy James was. Just so they both learn and move on. Really needs to be some consequences for the instigators instead of being let go. Sandy needs to see Vanessa is using her as a cover, and Sandy needs to wake up to herself, or be held responsible by her father for alienating the people she was supposed to make contact with. Hope the reporter brother is keeping an eye on what Vanessa and Odie are up to, and that he has he’s own justice in store. Hope he becomes like Reese a good partner. Hope James lives and finds he’s HEA. Need to put Nicole in prison , no release and several lifetimes , with all the evidence on the crimes she’s committed just to get her out of the way guilt free. More about what’s up with Gordon....
Excellent novel!...
When will you upload the next chapter...
