"I wouldn't dream of it. It's all part of the procedure. I'll find a way! I promise."
Sophie spoke softly, "I don't mean to trouble you. Since it's so difficult for your team to conduct the investigation, I’ll have my people handle it."
"But..."
"As long as we get the evidence, that's all that matters, right?"
Officer Derick finally said, "You're right, Ms. Sophie. I'll get in touch with your team right away. As long as we can find the evidence and explain that billion-dollar gap, you won't be in trouble."
Sophie remained silent, which was as good as an agreement.
Officer Derick continued with difficulty, "There's one more thing..."
"What now? Is there any bad news you haven't told me?"
"It's about Ms. Jenna. She has been causing a scene outside for quite some time, asking to see you. But according to regulations, she can't come in right now. Could you possibly say something to have her leave? It's really not a good look."
Jenna and Sophie were not to be trifled with. One had Adler backing her, and the other had Colby. Officer Derick was really out of options.
Sophie lowered her gaze.
In her past life, she didn't have many good friends, and Jenna was the first true sister she had since her rebirth. At such a time, Jenna must be really worried about her.
Sophie slowly said, "Just tell her I'm fine, not to worry, and to go back for now. There's no need to contact anyone on my behalf."
"Is that all?"
"Yes."
"Alright! Then I'll go tell Ms. Jenna." Officer Derick left politely.

Enjoying the story, to much victimising Sophie, they could at least try to target others. Hope at some point Sophie comes clean and forgives James and explain her view of loving the boy James was. Just so they both learn and move on. Really needs to be some consequences for the instigators instead of being let go. Sandy needs to see Vanessa is using her as a cover, and Sandy needs to wake up to herself, or be held responsible by her father for alienating the people she was supposed to make contact with. Hope the reporter brother is keeping an eye on what Vanessa and Odie are up to, and that he has he’s own justice in store. Hope he becomes like Reese a good partner. Hope James lives and finds he’s HEA. Need to put Nicole in prison , no release and several lifetimes , with all the evidence on the crimes she’s committed just to get her out of the way guilt free. More about what’s up with Gordon....
