Jean, though complaining, had no choice but to keep running.
Sophie led the pack, her pace neither fast nor slow. After ten laps, everyone was exhausted, but Sophie seemed to breathe steadily. Shirley gave her a second glance.
When Shirley first joined the team, she would have been sprawled on the ground after ten laps, but Sophie remained composed.
Habits weren't formed overnight. It was Sophie's past discipline that granted her this robust physique.
After thirty laps, an hour had passed. Everyone collapsed on the ground, utterly drained.
Sophie managed to steady her breathing, though her heart raced. The intensity of thirty laps was overwhelming.
"Well done. You can go have breakfast now," Skye announced, then added, "Sophie, stay behind."
The boys had finished earlier, and upon witnessing the scene, Johnny nudged Julian, whispering, "Hey, doesn’t it seem odd? Everyone leaves, but Skye asks her to stay!"
"I heard Sophie got in through connections. Isn’t this blatantly favoring her?"
Johnny added, "We've all worked hard to get here, and she just waltzes in because of her looks and a wealthy husband."
"Nonsense! Sophie and the CEO of Burke International are on the brink of divorce. She must have another big sponsor behind her!"
"Wow, that's new?"
Julian, usually uninterested in gossip, stood up and remarked, "Seems you all have too much free time."

Enjoying the story, to much victimising Sophie, they could at least try to target others. Hope at some point Sophie comes clean and forgives James and explain her view of loving the boy James was. Just so they both learn and move on. Really needs to be some consequences for the instigators instead of being let go. Sandy needs to see Vanessa is using her as a cover, and Sandy needs to wake up to herself, or be held responsible by her father for alienating the people she was supposed to make contact with. Hope the reporter brother is keeping an eye on what Vanessa and Odie are up to, and that he has he’s own justice in store. Hope he becomes like Reese a good partner. Hope James lives and finds he’s HEA. Need to put Nicole in prison , no release and several lifetimes , with all the evidence on the crimes she’s committed just to get her out of the way guilt free. More about what’s up with Gordon....
