Bea's face turned pale with fear at the sight of the knife, and at that moment, she could only turn to James for help. James frowned slightly and declared, "I agree."
"James..." Bea clenched her teeth, finally relenting. "Okay! Just put the knife down!"
After all, there was no written agreement or proof. The priority was to stabilize this madwoman first!
Just as Calla was about to lower the knife, Sophie spoke up, "Wait."
At this, Bea's expression darkened, "Sophie! What do you mean by this?"
Sophie chuckled lightly and said, "Bea, do you really think Ms. Calla is foolish? How could she possibly let you go with just a verbal agreement and no written contract?"
Sophie's words made Calla realize her oversight. The knife she was about to put down was now once again pressed against Bea's neck. At this moment, Bea was seething with anger but was helpless to do anything but say, "It's just a matter of making a written agreement. James, get the lawyer to prepare it right away!"
It was clear that Bea had no desire to die.
James took out his phone and called Colt. In no time, the fax machine upstairs buzzed with a contract Colt had sent.
Marian brought the contract from the study to James. Just as James was about to sign it, Sophie interjected, "This is between Bea and Ms. Calla. Naturally, Bea should be the one who signs. Right?"
Sophie intentionally wanted to saddle Bea with this huge debt. Bea was so infuriated she was nearly breathless. Marian had no choice but to hand the contract to Bea. When the contract was presented to her, Bea hesitated.
"What are you waiting for? Sign it now!"
Under Calla's threat, Bea had no choice but to immediately sign her name on the paper.
Once Calla saw Bea had signed, she finally released her. She pushed Bea onto the couch, then took the contract and retreated. She pointed the knife at everyone menacingly, "Don't come any closer! Stay back, all of you!"
"James! What are you waiting for? Arrest this madwoman for me!" Bea was furious, having never before been held at knifepoint like this.
James remained silent for a moment, and Bea shouted even louder, "James! Go now!"
"Bea, I suggest you save your energy. After all, you did her wrong first. If she accuses you of incitement to rape, the Burke family's reputation could be ruined again."

Enjoying the story, to much victimising Sophie, they could at least try to target others. Hope at some point Sophie comes clean and forgives James and explain her view of loving the boy James was. Just so they both learn and move on. Really needs to be some consequences for the instigators instead of being let go. Sandy needs to see Vanessa is using her as a cover, and Sandy needs to wake up to herself, or be held responsible by her father for alienating the people she was supposed to make contact with. Hope the reporter brother is keeping an eye on what Vanessa and Odie are up to, and that he has he’s own justice in store. Hope he becomes like Reese a good partner. Hope James lives and finds he’s HEA. Need to put Nicole in prison , no release and several lifetimes , with all the evidence on the crimes she’s committed just to get her out of the way guilt free. More about what’s up with Gordon....
Excellent novel!...
