Looking back now, this place really did seem like the paradise city adults used to talk about.
As a child, Sophie didn't understand, but now, seeing it for herself, the city center truly had it all.
Not only did it boast the largest trade center, but the city also attracted a diverse crowd. Escaping this city, all while avoiding Odie's watchful eyes, would truly be like walking into a spider's web.
"Mr. Odie, we've arrived."
They had arrived?
It was a ten-minute drive, which meant Odie's mansion must've been right in the city center.
"Mm."
The driver opened the door for Odie, and then Sophie stepped out of the car as well.
In front of them was a massive clock tower with roads leading in all directions, under which lay a gigantic square. The area was filled with buildings imitating architecture from the last century on a scale Sophie hadn't anticipated.
At that moment, Odie snapped his fingers.
Sophie saw this and frowned. She did not yet know the purpose of his action, but the next second, she understood.
The vast square connected to the clock tower and the surrounding skyscrapers suddenly lit up. Under the cover of night, the golden lights illuminated the entire city of Summerfield like gold.
"The lights here shine when I say so. The money here flows as I wish. If I want someone to win, they win. If I want them to lose, they lose."
Hearing Odie's words, Sophie felt a shiver go down her spine. Here, Odie was the master of all.
Sophie tried to steady her nerves and asked, "What do I need to do here?"

Enjoying the story, to much victimising Sophie, they could at least try to target others. Hope at some point Sophie comes clean and forgives James and explain her view of loving the boy James was. Just so they both learn and move on. Really needs to be some consequences for the instigators instead of being let go. Sandy needs to see Vanessa is using her as a cover, and Sandy needs to wake up to herself, or be held responsible by her father for alienating the people she was supposed to make contact with. Hope the reporter brother is keeping an eye on what Vanessa and Odie are up to, and that he has he’s own justice in store. Hope he becomes like Reese a good partner. Hope James lives and finds he’s HEA. Need to put Nicole in prison , no release and several lifetimes , with all the evidence on the crimes she’s committed just to get her out of the way guilt free. More about what’s up with Gordon....
