Revenge is Best Served After Reborn (James) novel Chapter 770
As the evening shadows lengthened, James paced the second floor of Minton Casino, glancing at his wristwatch. It was twenty minutes past their eight o'clock meet-up time, and there was still no sign of Sophie.
James frowned slightly. Sophie was never late. Could something have come up?
He scanned the casino floor below, and just then, Sophie walked in. Her stunning wine-red gown made her easy to spot in the crowd.
However, James also noticed a few shadowy figures lurking in the corners, their eyes fixed on Sophie. They were clearly tailing her.
Sophie’s eyes met James', subtly signaling towards the people watching him. He got the message immediately.
Maintaining a façade of calm, Sophie made her way up to the second floor. She stopped right in front of James, her face a mixture of resolve and hesitation.
"I didn't think you'd actually come," James said.
Odie's words echoed in Sophie's mind. ‘Tonight, when James seeks you out, go to him, but follow my instructions.’ ‘This is our latest product, a high-purity powder that’s incredibly addictive with just a tiny dose.’ ‘If you don't do as I say, you know the consequences.’
"Sophie?" James' voice snapped her back to the present.
She forced a smile. "I'm here as promised. What did Mr. Burke want to talk about?"
"Nothing much. Just that someone learned I was coming to Summerfield and paid me a hefty sum to deliver a message."
Suddenly, James took off his wristwatch and placed it on Sophie's wrist. It was a puzzling move, but James didn’t look up, simply saying, “He said, he’s here.”

Enjoying the story, to much victimising Sophie, they could at least try to target others. Hope at some point Sophie comes clean and forgives James and explain her view of loving the boy James was. Just so they both learn and move on. Really needs to be some consequences for the instigators instead of being let go. Sandy needs to see Vanessa is using her as a cover, and Sandy needs to wake up to herself, or be held responsible by her father for alienating the people she was supposed to make contact with. Hope the reporter brother is keeping an eye on what Vanessa and Odie are up to, and that he has he’s own justice in store. Hope he becomes like Reese a good partner. Hope James lives and finds he’s HEA. Need to put Nicole in prison , no release and several lifetimes , with all the evidence on the crimes she’s committed just to get her out of the way guilt free. More about what’s up with Gordon....
