Revenge is Best Served After Reborn (James) novel Chapter 783

The car accident Leticia caused left Sophie pretty banged up. Colby couldn't help but notice the bruises and cuts all over her, a flicker of sharpness crossing his eyes.

Sophie reached out, cupping Colby's face with a smile that made her eyes crinkle like crescent moons. "What's the matter? Feeling sorry for me?"

Seeing her like this, the worry in Colby's eyes eased a bit. He tapped her forehead gently but firmly. "From now on, no more putting yourself in danger."

"But this was a special case," Sophie said, rubbing her sore forehead. "Don't worry, it won't happen again."

Leticia was unpredictable, a real wild card. But thanks to her, Sophie had managed to gain even more of Odie's trust.

Sophie pinched Colby's stern face, grinning. "You have no idea how much I dug up from Odie after that close call."

"Am I supposed to praise you now?" he asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Of course!"

Still looking pleased with herself, Sophie got another tap on the forehead from Colby. "If you weren't hurt, I'd have to teach you a lesson."

Sophie pouted, "I'm already this hurt, and you still want to hit me?"

Looking into her big, teary eyes, any anger Colby had melted away. He spoke softly, "How could I ever hit you? If anyone deserves a hit, it's me for not being more careful and letting you get into danger."

Hearing that, Sophie covered his mouth with her hand, frowning. "Stop talking like that!"

A smile crept into Colby's eyes as he held the hand she had over his mouth. "…Alright, I’ll stop."

Just then, Rick knocked on the bedroom door.

"Colby, Ms. Sophie, the boss is waiting in the study for you two. He wants to know when you can come."
