Sophie’s return was so sudden that the outside world hadn’t caught wind of it yet.
Reece glanced at Tricia and said, "Sophie just got back. Let’s give her a moment to catch up on recent office matters. We can handle everything else later."
Tricia nodded in agreement. "Ms. Sophie, it’s pretty crowded here. How about we head upstairs?"
Sophie noticed the employees avoiding eye contact and followed Tricia and Reece upstairs.
In the office, the first thing Sophie saw was a mountain of documents piled high on her desk.
She couldn’t help but sigh, "Reece... I’m so sorry I dumped all this mess on you."
Reece waved it off. "It’s no big deal, just some simple contracts. I just need to sign them."
As Reece started sorting through the papers, Sophie turned to Tricia. "Why is everyone avoiding me? What’s going on?"
Tricia hesitated a moment before speaking. "It’s about you and Mr. Gordon."
"Me and Gordon?" Sophie frowned. "What’s going on with us?"
Reece handed Sophie a newspaper from the desk.
The headline showed photos of her and Gordon entering and leaving the Burke Estate. The paper was from yesterday, meaning the news had been snapped up right after she landed.
Who has the time to be this nosy?
Sophie frowned.

Enjoying the story, to much victimising Sophie, they could at least try to target others. Hope at some point Sophie comes clean and forgives James and explain her view of loving the boy James was. Just so they both learn and move on. Really needs to be some consequences for the instigators instead of being let go. Sandy needs to see Vanessa is using her as a cover, and Sandy needs to wake up to herself, or be held responsible by her father for alienating the people she was supposed to make contact with. Hope the reporter brother is keeping an eye on what Vanessa and Odie are up to, and that he has he’s own justice in store. Hope he becomes like Reese a good partner. Hope James lives and finds he’s HEA. Need to put Nicole in prison , no release and several lifetimes , with all the evidence on the crimes she’s committed just to get her out of the way guilt free. More about what’s up with Gordon....
