"Vanessa, is this really true?" Johns asked, his eyes fixed on her.
Under the intense scrutiny of everyone in the room, Vanessa finally spoke, "The will is real, but there's a catch."
She turned to Colby, her gaze steady. "Dad's condition was that Colby marries me. Only then can he legitimately inherit the White family fortune."
As Vanessa's words hung in the air, every eye turned to Sophie. Colby had just declared Sophie as his wife, defying Mr. White's stipulation.
Sophie's fingers twitched, feeling Colby's grip tighten around her hand. Her heart sank.
"Colby," Vanessa continued, "when my father died, he entrusted me to you, asking you to take care of me for life, and you promised him. Everyone knows he always intended for you to marry me and become the White family's son-in-law."
"That's right," someone chimed in. "Mr. Elwood always saw Colby as the ideal son-in-law."
"Yet, Colby, you betrayed that trust. After securing the White family's wealth, you turned your back on us! It wasn’t long before you married another woman. How is that fair to the late Mr. Elwood and Vanessa?" another voice accused.
The directors seemed to pounce on Colby, pointing fingers and hurling accusations.
Colby’s brow furrowed slightly.

Enjoying the story, to much victimising Sophie, they could at least try to target others. Hope at some point Sophie comes clean and forgives James and explain her view of loving the boy James was. Just so they both learn and move on. Really needs to be some consequences for the instigators instead of being let go. Sandy needs to see Vanessa is using her as a cover, and Sandy needs to wake up to herself, or be held responsible by her father for alienating the people she was supposed to make contact with. Hope the reporter brother is keeping an eye on what Vanessa and Odie are up to, and that he has he’s own justice in store. Hope he becomes like Reese a good partner. Hope James lives and finds he’s HEA. Need to put Nicole in prison , no release and several lifetimes , with all the evidence on the crimes she’s committed just to get her out of the way guilt free. More about what’s up with Gordon....
