"Okay," Caelum nodded kindly, waiting until Sandy had run off before his expression darkened.
"Sir, it seems Ms. Vanessa has decided to get engaged to Odie. Quite a few people have already received their invitations. Miss Sandy clearly doesn’t know yet..."
"Don't let her find out," Caelum said, displeasure evident in his voice. "I used to think Vanessa was a decent girl, but who knew she’d pull something like this? Sandy may be a bit spoiled, but she values her relationships deeply. Finding out her close friend is getting together with her ex-fiancé would really hurt her."
"Understood, sir. I'll make sure the news doesn’t reach Miss Sandy."
Across the room, James watched the scene unfold, his expression growing more somber by the minute.
Beside him, Angelo peeked through the door crack, asking, "What's got you so lost in thought?"
"Nothing."
James returned to the couch, and Angelo said, "Let me tell you, my sister, when she makes a move, even the ghosts and spirits fear her! Your grandmother wouldn't be able to handle it. She'd be rushing back to Devonport by nightfall."
"I'm not worried about that."
"Then what are you worried about?"
James paused, then asked, "Did you get the invitation?"
"What invitation?"
"The engagement invitation for Vanessa and Odie."
"Vanessa and Odie are getting engaged? Where did that rumor come from?"
"It's not a rumor."
"How do you know?"
"I was the one who suggested it."
"Seriously??" Angelo was stunned. "Why would you come up with such a terrible idea?"
"Never mind that."
"You tell me not to mind, yet you want my help?!"

Enjoying the story, to much victimising Sophie, they could at least try to target others. Hope at some point Sophie comes clean and forgives James and explain her view of loving the boy James was. Just so they both learn and move on. Really needs to be some consequences for the instigators instead of being let go. Sandy needs to see Vanessa is using her as a cover, and Sandy needs to wake up to herself, or be held responsible by her father for alienating the people she was supposed to make contact with. Hope the reporter brother is keeping an eye on what Vanessa and Odie are up to, and that he has he’s own justice in store. Hope he becomes like Reese a good partner. Hope James lives and finds he’s HEA. Need to put Nicole in prison , no release and several lifetimes , with all the evidence on the crimes she’s committed just to get her out of the way guilt free. More about what’s up with Gordon....
