In the afternoon, when Sophie got back to Burke Estate, she saw the maid cleaning up the messy living room.
"Did the Aldridge family get robbed?" Sophie asked, puzzled.
With the kind of security the Aldridge family had, a break-in seemed pretty unlikely.
"Mrs. Costello, thank goodness you're back!"
The maid looked a bit distressed as she approached Sophie and said, "Mr. Gordon asked to see you in the study as soon as you returned. He said it's urgent."
Knowing Gordon had something important to discuss, Sophie didn't waste any time and headed upstairs.
But when she opened the door, there was Rick standing there, holding a bill.
Rick looked serious. "Mrs. Costello, will that be card or cash?"
"Seriously?" Sophie forced a smile. "The boss called me back for this?"
Gordon was sitting at his desk, looking calm. "Even though our relationship is special, the six-figure damage Colby caused still needs to be settled."
Feeling a bit helpless, Sophie rubbed her forehead. "Fine, I'll pay by card."
After all, she had control over all of Colby's stuff, including his bank cards.
Sophie casually pulled out a black card to settle the bill. Hearing the hefty amount being charged still made her wince a bit.
She'd deal with Colby when she got back to her room!
"Mr. Gordon, if there’s nothing else, I’ll be going now."
Just as Sophie was about to leave, Gordon suddenly asked, "Did you go see James?"

Enjoying the story, to much victimising Sophie, they could at least try to target others. Hope at some point Sophie comes clean and forgives James and explain her view of loving the boy James was. Just so they both learn and move on. Really needs to be some consequences for the instigators instead of being let go. Sandy needs to see Vanessa is using her as a cover, and Sandy needs to wake up to herself, or be held responsible by her father for alienating the people she was supposed to make contact with. Hope the reporter brother is keeping an eye on what Vanessa and Odie are up to, and that he has he’s own justice in store. Hope he becomes like Reese a good partner. Hope James lives and finds he’s HEA. Need to put Nicole in prison , no release and several lifetimes , with all the evidence on the crimes she’s committed just to get her out of the way guilt free. More about what’s up with Gordon....
