"Sure. Congratulations."
"Thank you. Ms. Lawson."
He truly meant it. It was Sophia who gave him the opportunity to show his ability in the Barnett Group. Meanwhile, since she was away from Sealand, he was granted with even more authority. It could be said that he had led the group toward a much brighter future.
In terms of salary, he had been earning more and more. But that was just one part of his life. On the other hand, he had found an eligible girlfriend and was planning to get married.
To some extent, it was Sophia who helped him realize such achievements. Of course he should thank her.
"Right, Ms. Lawson, I've prepared what you asked me to. The management is waiting in the office."
"Alright. Let's go to the office."
Drake was keeping Sophia company the whole time, watching her making all the decisions without proposing any suggestions.
Over the last two years, he had been paying attention to her secretly. He knew that she was doing well in Lawson Group. And a woman like her was totally independent of him when it came to work.
When she walked into the meeting room, all the senior managers were waiting for her. Since Sophia, the president and biggest shareholder of this company, had disappeared from their sight for such a long time, they were all curious about what was going to happen.
Looking at those half-familiar faces, Sophia said, "Hi, everyone. I'm sorry that I haven't spent much time working with you, but I am well-aware that all of you have done a wonderful job. It's such an honor for me to be able to work with you all guided by the same goal."
"However, for the next stage, there might be some changes. As you know, I own many other companies. When I was unmarried, I was able to keep a balance between them. But now, as I'm trying to focus more on my family, I think we need to pick a new president. For me, Hank is competent enough to take this place. So, I want to gather you all and hear your suggestions."
Drake was holding her hand the whole time under the table.
He felt his heart warmed up when he heard the news. When he saw Chloe this morning, he thought Sophia was going to bury herself in work again, but later, he understood what she was planning.
The crowd was shocked by her proposal as well. For all those time, though Sophia hadn't shown up much in the company, she had the real power. Besides, she was the biggest shareholder. It was normal for her to keep control of the company.
But to their surprise, she decided to let it go.
Hank was even more shocked. He looked at Sophia unbelievably, "Ms. Lawson, what are you talking about? I ..."
Sophia smiled, "You've done a good job, which I believe everyone has seen. You are really competent enough, and you know, I cannot take care of so many companies at one time. I think it'll be great if I can use your help. Don't be so modest. When it's your time to shine, you should grasp the chance."
After all, in the last two years, Hank had been doing the job that a president should do.
Though other senior managers had their ideal candidates, their ideal ones would certainly be overshadowed by Hank.
More importantly, the company was bought by Drake as a present for Sophia in the first place. What else could they say now that Drake himself was sitting there?
"I agree."
"I agree."
The shareholders raised their hands one after another.
A smile showed up on Sophia's face. She knew they were going to say yes, though some of them might not be completely willing.
"Okay. Now that everyone has agreed, from now on, Hank is the official president of this company."
The shareholders all sent their congratulations.
When there were only Drake and Sophia, Hank asked with embarrassment, "Ms. Lawson, why didn't you tell me earlier?"
"If I told you earlier, you would definitely turn me down. I believe everyone has seen how well you do in the past two years when I am away. I don't want to lose a talent like you. You deserve it."
"But..."
"Alright. That's decided. If you don't take this position, I'll just let the company run its course."
Hank had no other choices but to accept it.
"Alright. Remember to tell me when you decide the date of your wedding, so that I can prepare your wedding gift."
"I will."
When she had dealt with the Barnett Group, Sophia still needed to deal with other companies. If she wanted to have her own time, she needed to give the control of her companies to competent people.
