Chapter 494 A Trick
Sophia sent a message to Mia, asking her to investigate this matter.
But after thinking that Rashad, a hacker, probably had hacked into the surveillance cameras near the company and removed the footage of his meeting with that robber, she added, "Please check if there are any traces of intrusion in the monitoring system near the company."
Bonnie wasn't at home tonight. Sophia was really tired. She planned to take a shower and go to bed.
When she almost drifted into sleep, Mia sent a message, which said. "It is indeed hacked. Ms. Lawson, shall I continue investigating?"
"No, thanks!"
Mia didn't know what was going on, and Sophia didn't explain.
Putting away her phone, Sophia lay down in sadness. Rashad had plotted against her many times. Who was she to her? A cat's paw?
Rashad didn't receive any calls or text messages from Sophia for the following days. He frowned, wondering if she had found out the truth.
He didn't think so, because he had erased all the traces. Besides, from what he knew about her, she wouldn't even doubt him.
Unless...
Drake came to Rashad's office when the latter was lost in thought. Drake's eyes fell on his injured arm.
"How are you doing?"
Rashad didn't think Drake would be so nice to care about his injury.
"It's not a big deal. It has long healed."
"But your arm is still in bandages. Should I take you to the hospital and get your wound dressed again?"
"No need, it will be fine soon."
"Rashad, it's okay. First of all, you are my cousin. Secondly, you got hurt for saving my wife. It's my duty to take care of you."
Rashad didn't know what he meant, but he wouldn't go to the hospital with Drake.
He took off the bandage, and said with a smile. "Look, it almost heals."
The wound wasn't that big. It wasn't even stitched. He had the bandage around it for so many days just to catch Sophia's attention.
Drake glanced at it with a smile on his face. "Yep, it looks fine. You are still having the bandage around it, so I thought it hasn't healed yet."
Rashad smiled. "Thank you, Drake. I'm fine."
"Well, I am glad. Sophia asked me about this, and I can tell her now." With that said, he was ready to go out.
Rashad looked at him. "Sophia asked you?"
"Yes, she's been very busy recently. So, she hasn't had time to visit you. Just now she suddenly remembered this matter and asked me to come over to see if I can help! "
Rashad was silent, thinking of something.
Drake didn't care what Rashad was thinking about. Anyway, he had reached his goal.
When he went back, Drake sent a message to Sophia. "Don't worry, he won't pester you with his injury as an excuse anymore."
Sophia sent a question mark.
-I know you don't care if his wound heals. But I had to check, lest he should pester you with this excuse.
-I see.
Sophia didn't ask Rashad about his wound after she knew that it was just Rashad's trick.
Drake went to Rashad to make Rashad realize one thing -- Sophia didn't care about him at all even if he was going to pester Sophia with his wound as an excuse.
But Drake didn't expect Rashad to go to Sophia cheekily.
At this time, Sophia was working. Her assistant told her that she got a visitor whose name was Rashad.
Sophia was stunned. Drake had just told her that Rashad wouldn't pester her anymore.
Having no excuse to refuse him, she let him in.
Rashad walked in with an apologetic face. "Sophia, have I bothered you?"
He did bother her. But she couldn't be so straightforward. After all, they were relatives.
"Well, no, of course not. You must have come here for something, right?"
"Yes, indeed."
"Can you wait for a moment? I need to finish the task at hand."
"Okay, sure. I'm not in a hurry!"
Rashad wandered around her office casually.
Drake heard that Rashad left the company.
Paul looked at Drake, waiting for his order.
Drake glanced at him, "You can leave!"
Paul didn't move. "Aren't we not going to get Rashad back?"
"I thought he wouldn't have any excuses to go to Sophia after I said those words to him. I was wrong. Don't worry. Sophia can handle this."
Paul looked at Drake, surprised by this answer. Over the past two years, Paul didn't notice any changes in Drake. But after Sophia returned to Drake, Paul clearly felt that Drake had changed a lot.
He guessed Drake changed all because of Sophia!
Sophia finished her task one hour later. She said apologetically, "I'm sorry for keeping you waiting for so long, Rashad, you must have gotten impatient!"
Rashad was smiling all the time.
"How come? I will never get impatient waiting for you, Sophia. "
There was a hidden meaning of this sentence but Sophia simply ignored it.
"Rashad, what brings you here today?"
"Nothing important. Now I realize I'm too impulsive in arriving here."
Sophia looked at him in confusion.
"Drake came to my office today."
Sophia didn't answer. She wanted to know what he was going to say.
"He told me that you'd been very busy lately, and he asked me about my wound on your behalf. I felt very uncomfortable at the time. After all, you knew me earlier than you knew him. Why do you have to let someone else show your concern for me?"
Just as Sophia was about to explain, Rashad said, "Later, I thought it through. He was not wrong, and neither were you. It's my bad. I forgot our current relationship."
"Sophia, you are Drake's wife, and my cousin-in-law. It's understandable that Drake came to me on your behalf. And I shouldn't have come here to question you today."
Sophia didn't know what to say.
"However, I still hope that we can be friends like we used to be."
