Chapter 546 Helena in Danger
"Usually? This dinner organized by me is unusual."
Mr. Pollard wore a nasty smile, and his face betrayed his thoughts.
Helena knew that all such occasions were like this. The show business environment had become much better than before, but some sponsors still preferred the casting couch.
So, she came over to make it clear to the sponsor that she would not use the casting couch.
"Mr. Pollard, this may be unusual for you, but not for me. I am here to inform you that from now on you must stop inviting me. I'm married.
"Besides, even if I were not married, I wouldn't attend such a dinner."
Mr. Pollard looked annoyed. Helena was the only exception among the actresses whom he wished to see. When the other girls dined with him, they all fawned over him.
Only Helena was obstinate and aloof. Thus, Mr. Pollard really wanted to tame her.
He reached his hand to her again. "Ms. Warburg, I am afraid I must correct you. Your husband is the eldest son of the Lawson family. He's too young. Besides, he's not romantic. How could he know how to please a woman? Unlike me. I know how to treasure you..."
Helena patted his hand away. "Please behave yourself, Mr. Pollard!"
Instead of stopping it, Mr. Pollard tried to take advantage of Helena without caring that Lisa was also there.
He clung to Helena, wishing to hold her.
"Ms. Warburg, if you do not believe this, you may try it. I'll be gentle..."
Helena slapped him and got up before he had finished his nasty talk.
"Mr. Pollard, I have shown you enough respect. You'd better stop it!"
Mr. Pollard's patience was at last exhausted. He rose and was about to seize Helena by the wrist.
"You bitch! You had better be submissive. You are just a high-ranking whore. Do you really think you are somebody?"
The next second, Helena knocked over his chubby body. When he landed on the floor, his fat shook.
It hurt so much that Mr. Pollard could barely stand.
Lying on the floor, pointing at her in pain, he snapped, "How dare you! Aren't you afraid you will be banned?"
Helena nodded. "Great! Go ahead."
Mr. Pollard had never seen a woman being so hot-tempered. If other actresses heard his threat, they would have begged on their kneels and obeyed him.
"Aren't you afraid you'll be kicked out of the business?"
Mr. Pollard was a bigwig in show business. Otherwise, he would not have been so bold as to harass Helena, who had a powerful family background.
"No problem. I do not want to continue my career in this business, no matter what. I'll go home to take over my family company."
Mr. Pollard was tongue-tied.
Lisa heaved a sigh. She knew how talented Helena was at acting. However, some sponsors in this industry were too nasty, always wanting to manipulate others through money and influence.
Lisa would be sorry if Helena quit her job. However, she could not stop Helena.
Lisa stood up and shook her head. "Mr. Pollard, as I mentioned on the phone, if you are going to have dinner with Helena, you should treat her with respect. However, you did not take my advice. Now you've provoked her. Mr. Travis Lawson, his younger sister, Mr. Riley, the Price family, and the Duncan family will repress you later. How will you survive in this industry?"
Mr. Pollard stiffened. Earlier, he insisted on meeting Helena because he wanted to sleep with her. Although he knew Helena's backers, he didn't think they could do anything to him as long as he succeeded in his plan.
However, he did not expect Helena to be so good at fighting.
"Helena!"
While reading Helena's message, Travis sensed something was wrong and immediately rushed to the restaurant.
As he pushed the door open, however, he saw Mr. Pollard lying miserably on the floor.
Helena drifted toward Travis. "Here you came, Travis."
"Are you OK?"
Travis looked her up and down, fearing she was hurt.
"I'm fine."
Helena appeared to be safe and sound.
Mr Pollard, however, was on the floor. Travis figured out what was going on.
He walked over. Mr. Pollard feared but yelled, "Mr. Lawson, you are blind to marry such a woman. She wanted to hook up with me but failed, so she knocked me over. How pitiful I am!"
Lisa was impressed, as she had never seen such a shameless man before.
"Hook up with you?"
Travis' voice changed, and so did his expression.
Mr. Pollard could tell that Travis was in a rage. But he had to say that to shift the blame.
"Right. Lisa was there to witness it. Helena wanted to hook up with me. Your wife invited me to dinner. You know I have many acting jobs to offer. To gain the job opportunities, she hit on me. I'm not lying, Mr. Lawson."
Lisa glanced at Helena and thought she must be fuming. Helena, however, looked calm.
It only meant she did not take it seriously.
Travis sneered, "Think I'll believe you?"
Mr. Pollard was afraid he did not believe it, so he explained, "I'm telling the truth. Why do you not believe me? I know you were childhood playmates. She has changed after working in the show business. I'm afraid you don't know her true colors at all."
"Oh? What's her true color?" Travis asked.
Mr. Pollard didn't notice his eyes became more horrible.
For protection, Mr. Pollard continued lying, "No one exposed her scandals. In fact, she must have slept with a lot of sponsors. She..."
Travis kicked him violently.
Earlier, he had thought he could tolerate the repulsive man while listening to his make-up story. Travis, however, could no longer listen and lost control.
Mr. Pollard nearly blacked out.
"Ouch! Mr. Lawson, why don't you believe me?"
Travis mocked, "Who are you? I have never seen you before. Why should I trust you? I know my wife. Of course, I trust her."
"How dare you humiliate my wife! You also insulted me. Do you think I'll let go of you?"
Mr. Pollard cried in pain, "I'm not lying. It's the truth."
