Chapter 578 Noah's Proposal
Unfortunately, Drake made no response, as if he hadn't seen anything.
He was amused, though, thinking, 'Travis should know I'm always on Sophia's side, shouldn't he?'
Sophia held her glass and strode towards Travis. "Let me make a toast to start. Travis, happy marriage!"
"Congratulations!"
Travis couldn't find a word to respond to her.
He didn't drink the shot. A long while later, Sophia promoted, "Travis, drink it!"
"Seriously, Sophia?"
"You are not one of the Lawsons anymore. Why would I feel sorry for you?"
Others were all amused. They had known they couldn't afford to offend Sophia long ago. Sure enough, their decisions were wise.
Only then did Travis realize how unwise he was to make some statements recklessly.
Sophia's expression told him he must pay the price.
Since Travis couldn't skip it, he decided to gulp down the liquor in his glass. Suddenly, a figure walked up and grabbed his glass.
"Travis has become one of our Warburgs. I can drink it on his behalf," said Gloria. Then she gulped down the liquor with one go.
She had stood there and watched the crowd for a long while. Although she knew Sophia was joking with Travis, she couldn't help but walk up.
She detested Sophia all the time in every aspect.
Helena glanced at Gloria in a warning, but the latter pretended not to see it.
After Gloria finished the liquor, she asked a waiter to refill the glass while glancing at others.
"Anyone else wants to make a toast to my brother-in-law. Come on!"
Others were kidding with Travis earlier. They would make a toast to him one after another, but they wouldn't force him to drink much. However, after Gloria chimed in, they felt bored.
Gloria gazed at Sophia and said provocatively, "One shot is enough, huh? Should I drink another one?"
Without caring what others thought about her, she gulped down the liquor again.
Helena gave Sophia an entreating glance. Though Helena was Gloria's older sister, Gloria never listened to her because she was Sophia's friend.
Thus, Helena wished Sophia could say something.
Yet Sophia couldn't say anything. The more she wanted to stop Gloria, the more Gloria would drink.
Gloria drank up three glasses in one go and deliberately showed the bottom of the glass to Sophia. "Look. Enough?"
"If I said yes, would you stop it?"
"Of course not. That's just for your toast only. And others..."
Before Gloria drank the fourth glass, Noah strode to her and stopped her.
"Enough, Gloria! Stop it!"
Seeing him, Gloria looked more annoyed.
"No way! I want more."
Stubbornness was written all over her face. She signaled the waiter to refill her glass. If the waiter refused, she would shout at him.
Noah roared, "Enough. Gloria, it's your sister's wedding today. Can you stop making trouble?"
"Making trouble?" The words riled up Gloria more. Nodding, she retorted, "Exactly! No matter what I do, you always think I'm making trouble. However, if it were Sophia, you would think she did the right thing. Why? Why is she always right?"
Probably due to the alcohol, she seemed to talk drunkenly.
Yet, everyone knows the truth is at the bottom of the decanter.
Sophia approached her. "I know you dislike me. You can grumble after your sister's wedding. It's the ceremony now. You've drunk too much. That's enough."
"What gives you the right to preach at me? Others listen to you, so you can put your nose in anyone's business, huh? I like drinking. What does it have to do with you?"
Gloria became hysteric.
Her shout attracted many guests' attention, and they all looked over.
Noah dragged her. "Enough, Gloria. What's been upsetting you? Tell me. Stop it."
"Tell you?" Gloria was amused. "What should I tell you? Why should I? Does it make any sense? Can I tell you to forget her and not to like her any longer?"
How much Noah had loved Sophia, how much Gloria had loved him.
Even though Noah couldn't be with Sophia any longer, he still ignored Gloria.
Gloria always wondered how charming Sophia was to make Noah obsessed and felt a sharp pang in her heart.
"Gloria, it's Helena's wedding ceremony now. We shall not talk about it."
"We don't have any chance to talk about it usually, do we? She's in Sealand. It's not easy for me to find her."
Noah looked at her. "Gloria, you give Sophia a hard time because of me. You can do anything to me. Stop bothering Sophia."
An ironic smile touched Gloria's lips. "Well, frankly, you are still defending her, aren't you? In your eyes, it's always others' fault. You asked me not to bother Sophia, but you actually implied I should not make trouble for her."
"Noah, you..."
Before she finished speaking, Noah stared at her with a long face, "Gloria, you want to marry me, don't you? I promise you. After returning to Pinkerton, we'll get registered, shoot the wedding pictures, and hold a ceremony. What do you think?"
Gloria gaped at him.
Others were also shocked.
Drake had mixed feelings. He was jealous and delighted. Drake was envious because he didn't know what Sophia thought while watching the farce. He was joyful because Noah finally had given up on Sophia, so Drake would have one less rival in love.
Noah added, "Marry me, Gloria. I hope you'll never make trouble for Sophia again. What's between us has nothing to do with her."
"Let's get married. We'll have a happy life. As long as you are willing, we will never divorce."
Gloria widened her eyes while gazing at him for a long time, forgetting to respond.
She didn't know how to reply, only staring at him in disbelief.
Helena said sullenly, "Gloria, isn't this what you've always wanted? Now you've succeeded. Why don't you answer Noah's question?"
Chloe also echoed angrily, "Exactly! Say yes to Noah, and don't make any trouble for Sophia anymore. She has never done anything to hurt you."
Gloria finally giggled after being silent for a long time.
Her laughter was creepy, sending shivers down others' spines.
"Noah, you do love Sophia to bits. I didn't expect you to do so for her sake. Think I'll agree? Never! I won't stop making trouble for her. I will never stop..."
Before she finished her words, Noah dragged her closer and kissed her lips.
Others watched them with baffled expressions.
When Noah pulled away, Gloria still gaped at him in disbelief.
