He insisted staying with Sophia to wait on the old Mrs. Lawson at night.
"It's OK. Sophia can handle it by herself." said the old Mrs. Lawson.
The old Mrs. Lawson believed she must have been blinded before. She used to think Cathy was a grateful and caring child when Cathy treated her a little better. However, she finally understood what "caring" meant since Sophia began to wait on her.
"Grandma, yes, I also believe Sophia can look after you alone. But she has to wait on you alone in the day time. I'm afraid she'll get tired. So, I wanna help her at night, so that she can sleep longer if she wants to." explained Drake.
The old Mrs. Lawson was stunned and looked towards Sophia.
Sophia rolled her eyes at Drake, "No. I'm not tired. Dad and Mom have cracked the toughest nuts, and Grandma can get out of bed now. I'm not doing much."
"Yes. Yes. You're not tired. It's just, I'm worried about you. OK?" Drake always gave in to Sophia, which somehow didn't look weird. Instead, it made people think they were deep in love.
"Hmm. That's more like it!" said Sophia, who finally found it satisfactory.
The old Mrs. Lawson looked at them and put on a smile, "OK. It's fine since Drake has insisted. By the way, Drake, you made my day by calling me 'Grandma'."
"This is how I do things. If anyone, including her family and close friends, is good to Sophia, I'll be nice to them. Otherwise, they will be my enemies."
The old Mrs. Lawson felt guilty for having tried to break them up before. Based on what she had seen, she couldn't get a good reason to set them apart. They loved each other and it would be nice that they would be together for a lifetime. She must have been out of her mind back then!
Bella and William also heard Drake and Sophia waited on the old Mrs. Lawson together.
Bella thought of what happened in the hospital and her heart sank. She pushed William a little, "Get out of bed and do something! Don't you know you're losing it all in the Lawson family!"
"Oh yeah! Thanks to your beloved daughter! Have you done what I've told you?" asked William impatiently.
Bella looked at him unbelievably, "What are you talking about? What do you mean by saying 'my daughter'? Isn't she your daughter? Cathy is spoiled! Don't you think you're also to be blamed?"
"You women are responsible for children, not men! Men are bread earners. Men are supposed to make big money to support the family! Don't you know that, huh?"
Bella found it hilarious, "Funny, the bread earner! What have you done to make big money and support the family? Don't you know where you get all your money?"
"I'm an exception. I must take care of my mother, and I deserve all the money. Moreover, I'm part of the Lawson family. I have the right to get that money!"
"Right. You have the right to get the money. But did you take care of your mother alone? Didn't I help at all?"
"Right. You helped. But Cathy is spoiled and out of control, and you are the one to be blamed! Don't ever forget that!"
Bella got more furious and pushed him on the shoulder, "How dare you! How could you shift the blame to me? Why didn't you teach her rules yourself? You're a deadbeat dad!"
"Hell! Don't push me!" said William angrily. Saying it, he pushed her back, which had pissed Bella off. She simply stood up and jumped onto him.
William had been favored and spoiled by the old Mrs. Lawson since he was young, and everyone in the family was all obedience to him. Now that Bella had come at him, he fought back instead of putting up with it.
Soon enough, Sophia got a call and was told that William and Bella had been taken to the police because of domestic violence.
