“Mr. Lawson, is there something you need?” Alicia asked calmly.
“I’m outside. Come out,” Vincent replied. His voice sounded from the other end of the line.
Alicia froze, nerves prickling as she got up and peered out the window. Sure enough, Vincent’s car was parked right outside the house.
“I… I was about to go to sleep. Is it urgent?” Alicia tried to end the call.
“I can see you. Come outside. I want to talk,” Vincent’s voice was low, carrying that old commanding tone, though this time it was strained and tightly controlled.
“There’s nothing to talk about. Goodnight.” Alicia hung up on him without hesitation.
Vincent must have been furious, because a message popped up on her phone almost immediately:
“Serena’s back in Seaview. She’s recovered well—she can stand now. Tyrone promised her that once she got better, he’d divorce you. Are you brave enough to come see for yourself?”
Alicia stared at the message, silent for a moment, then set her phone aside without replying.
Vincent hadn’t expected her to be so unmoved.
Muttering a curse, he called her again, only to discover she’d blocked his number.
His frustration was palpable; Alicia was getting better at driving him crazy.
“Alicia! Come outside!” Vincent finally lost his composure. He didn’t care about appearances anymore, and shouted toward the house from the front yard.
This was bordering on public disturbance…
Alicia was stunned. Had he been drinking? What was Vincent doing, making a scene at someone else’s house in the middle of the night?
Gritting her teeth, Alicia opened the door and stepped out onto the porch. “Mr. Lawson, please keep your voice down.”
“Come here,” Vincent said, trying to keep his anger in check.
“I’m not coming out,” Alicia replied, staying just inside the door.
